Is Andy Samberg a bachelor?

As far as we know, Andy's still dating Joanna Newsom. But these authors say otherwise (read our editor comments below)...

The flirty dozen: Meet NY’s most eligible bachelors

Andy comes as #3 in this list...

ANDY SAMBERG, 31

Comedian

He’s cute. He’s hilarious. And with those dark curly locks, you guys can share hair products. Plus, he’s been in a Super Bowl ad, had a No. 1 iTunes album (“Incredibad”) and even won an Emmy for “D - - k in a Box” with Justin Timberlake. But can he be the next Will Ferrell? Some say he already is. “What he has that Ferrell doesn’t have is that he’s cute. He’s sexy. He also has the youth thing and a rock ’n’ roll edge to him,” says comedy expert Bill Knoedelseder, author of “I’m Dying Up Here: Heartbreak and High Times in Standup Comedy’s Golden Era.” Plus, we bet he’s got JT’s number in his cellphone.

[Editor: Confirmed. Andy texts Justin Timberlake all the time. He might be slowing down though, because the two haven't collabed since the MTV Movie Awards in the May. They were still talking about each other at the Emmys later in the summer though.]

Pros: Knoedelseder says Samberg probably makes $2 million to $3 million a year with his “SNL” contract and could be worth more than $100 million in five years with movie deals. “You can get rich really fast making movies. Will Ferrell has made a fortune! Jay Leno is worth $300 million, and Letterman is closing in on a billion, after working five days a week for 30 years. There’s a big living to be made here.”

[Editor: Andy doesn't make that much money. SNL doesn't pay that well. He's currently worth $14 million, and I suspect that's more from his hit CD, movies, guest spots, and commercials than SNL (though he won't complain; SNL got him everything else). You do SNL because you love it, and Andy's still on his original contract. When the contract's up (after next season), Andy can renegotiate for more money. However, he's more likely to leave to go do either a TLI show, a sitcom, or to pursue films. SNL gets away with not paying too much because it's not as popular as you'd think, there are so many salaries involved, the supply of stars is bigger than the demand of money (so many people want to be on it), and SNL locks new players into multi-year contracts to avoid inflated salaries.]

Cons: When it comes to jokes, nothing is off-limits. Including you.

[Editor: True, but Andy has taste. He has never mocked Joanna Newsom or his past flings... Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson, etc. However, he did seriously embarrass his brother-in-law and sister in Roy Rules, and his Tizzle Wizzle Show mocked Yo Gabba Gabba, which he did a guest spot on.]

  2. Does anyone know if Joanna went with him to the Grammy's? Because I haven't seen a single picture of her.

  4. A lot of times the press considers you a "bachelor" until you're officially married. That may be where they're coming from.

Not that I wouldn't do a little bit of a happy dance if he was indeed single.

  5. Both he and Akiva were People's Sexiest Bachelor's only a year or so ago and both were in serious relationships at that time. I agree with the anony above that it is probably based on married or not. Just because we don't see them together doesn't mean they aren't. She's on tour and her new album is out this month, so the likelihood of them having down-time together is slim. Wait until the NYC shows, if some reports, like before, post him in the audience, etc. they probably still are. As for the other, hostile anony above, take a laxative, get over it.
