We got a note from Jamie:
"Thanks for running your Andy Samberg site, even though you completely
ruined my day by reporting that Andy is still with Joanna Newsom. But
that's okay - they're cute together and seem really happy. Good for
them! :-)
"Anyway, I do sketch comedy in NYC and did this parody of "I'm On a
Boat" called "I'm On a Date." It turned out awesome! Hope you like!"
Our response:
"We're glad you enjoy our site and that we ruined your day (yes, we're twisted), and you're right. This song is awesome! Note to our viewers, though: this song is intense and hardcore. Although it is explicit and raunchy, the raunchiness is matched by the quality of the production values and the quality of the gags here. This isn't just a rehash of the jokes from "I'm On A Boat." These jokes are fresh! The one guy who dresses like the nun practically steals this vid (Green Lantern rules). - TAE"

PONDERING THE PARODIES
Are these parodies or just remakes? We're calling them remakes, because, let's face it, you can't change the topic of a gag song, use the same basic theme, and then call it a parody or spoof. The original was the parody or spoof. To truly make a parody of a parody, then you'd have to really make fun of Andy Samberg's performance, and no video truly does that. So we're calling these remakes. =^)
THE PHONE IS RINGING
The phone ring at the beginning sounds exactly like the phone in a cartoon we made where the ringing is the focus of the joke.
It's called "The Phone is Ringing." Observe:

We recently reported that two out of the meager three woman on the Saturday Night Live roster were canned this season and replaced with two new female faces. Allegedly, one of the ladies was axed because of her weight.
ReplyDeleteSources claim that Casey Wilson was fired from the show after having been asked to use the summer hiatus to lose 30 pounds. Whether she was unable to pull it off or told them where they could stick their show, we're unsure.
But unlike Michaela Watkins, the other axed cast member who explained she got praise from Lorne Michaels right as he showed her the door, Casey is keeping mum.
As we previously mentioned, Kristen Wiig was reportedly going to be the new co-anchor at the Weekend Update desk.
ReplyDeleteHowever, according to Entertainment Weekly an SNL "insider" says the report is "not true" and is simply " an internet-fueled rumor".
Anony, okay I changed the news post to mention that it's only a rumor about Kristen.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Casey goes, I wouldn't want to fuel that rumor or even report it if it is true. If Chris Farley, Bobby Moynihan, Kenan, and John and Jim Belushi can be on the show, then they can certainly have a larger woman. Larger people (men or women) can do physical comedy differently (also including John Candy and Will Sasso) and sometimes even better than skinny folks. So I prefer to keep it about her comedy than her weight, even if her weight ends up being a factor.
Thanks for the Kristen info though!
