Andy Samberg - Makes fun of Jamie Pressly

Andy Samberg makes fun of Jamie Pressly in this Saturday Night Live promo. Jamie is not impressed.

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - Image with Jimmy Fallon

Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live wrote for the MTV Movie Awards in 2005. That was when he was discovered by Jimmy Fallon, the host for the show.

Jimmy recommended Andy for an audition, and the rest is history.

Here is an image of Andy and Kiv working with Jimmy Fallon:

Thanks to Akemi and Magic Nose Goblin.

Andy Samberg Image - High-Fiving a Kitty

Here's a swell icon of Andy Samberg high-fiving a kitty cat. A dangerous kitty cat. It looks like it was a spread from a magazine. Andy Samberg is from Saturday Night Live. He rocks and rolls.

Slow Andy news day.
Hey, check out my original music video. It's my lame attempt to do an Andy Samberg Saturday Night Live SNL Digital Short Music Video:

Andy Samberg - New SNL bio

Andy Samberg has a new bio and image up on the Saturday Night Live bio page.

It says:

Andy Samberg is in his second season on “Saturday Night Live.”

Samberg, along with “SNL” writers Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, are best known for their innovative series of “SNL Digital Shorts” during the past season. The trio – who are childhood friends from Berkeley, California – brought viewers absurdist commercial spoofs like “Lettuce” and faux music videos, featuring Natalie Portman performing an expletive-laden rap and Oscar winner Tom Hanks channeling Right Said Fred. “Lazy Sunday” – a collaboration between “SNL” alum Chris Parnell and the trio – was an undeniable online phenomenon that amassed over one million hits on YouTube.com within days of airing on “SNL.” The short “burrowed its way into the nation's cultural consciousness” (The New York Times, 12/27/05) and sparked its own legion of Internet imitations.

Thanks to their innovative contributions to “SNL” and their previous work as the Los Angeles-based comedy trio “The Lonely Island,” Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone were honored by Wired Magazine with a “Wired Rave Award” in 2006, alongside geneticists and fellow online pioneers.
Samberg recently filmed “Hot Rod,” his feature film debut. The film is produced by “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels, directed by Schaffer and stars Taccone, alongside Oscar winner Sissy Spacek, Ian McShane (“Deadwood”), Isla Fisher (“Wedding Crashers”) and fellow “SNL” castmate Bill Hader.

Starting out in Los Angeles, Samberg worked with Schaffer and Taccone as “The Lonely Island,” whose short films were showcased on the popular “untelevised television network” show and website: Channel 101.com. Some of their popular shorts included the “O.C.” parody, “The ‘Bu,” and their full length pilot, “Awesometown.”

EDitorial: Why wasn't Andy Samberg on the show this week?

EDitorial: Why wasn't Andy Samberg on Saturday Night Live this week?

The show I'm referring to is 2/11/07, hosted by Forest Whitaker.

Well...

He was there.

He did the voice announcing of "Sloths!" Plus he obviously wrote it and made it with his Lonely Island cohorts.

And he did the intro with Drew Barrymore the previous week.

Basically, they understand that the world loves Andy. They need that and want that. However, they don't want it to be the Andy Samberg show. Andy doesn't want that either. So they give the world 1-2 Andy sketches each night, and they limit it to stuff that The Lonely Island wrote. Stuff that will be viral on the internet and that the world will love.

That particular night he did Sloths and Andy Popping Into Frame. His only live appearance was the voice intro for Sloths.

Because they limit it to stuff The Lonely Island wrote, we're mostly going to get Digital Shorts and movie references like The Usual Suspects, the Total Recall sketch (Andy was Quato; I still can't find a video of that anywhere) and the intro with Drew Barrymore (Say Anything...).
Even the Sloths video featured Sloth from Goonies. I love it when these guys pull out these old references.

So they've been pulling him out more to use him as a tool. They only pull out Andy as a big gun. That way the fans come to see the funny Andy Samberg skits, but he doesn't take over the show (like Eddie Murphy did).

Plus, it's no coincidence that Justin Timberlake did a concert with Andy with their Gift in a Box song, and Justin's hosting again this week. I smell another smash hit Digital Short music video.

In the meantime, The Lonely Island is finishing post-production on their movie, Hot Rod, and I'm sure Andy and The Lonely Island are preparing their next project (i.e. writing a script for their next movie).

So we may be complaining, but Andy isn't complaining. Honestly, they should make some more movies, maybe do 4 or 5 seasons of SNL, and then they should take another stab at their own sketch show. I think they are ready for it (their sketches are much funnier than Awesometown was, now that they have experience), and the world is ready for it (i.e. they have enough fans).

This was a comment I wrote on Samberg Daily:

Andy Samberg - The history of The Lonely Island

This is the story of The Lonely Island, straight from their own mouths. ...And mine.

From their website:

"The Lonely Island is a group of filmmakers located in (formerly Los Angeles, CA) New York. They have recently joined the cast and writing staff of Saturday Night Live."

Now back to me:
The Lonely Island is the comedy group that Andy Samberg is involved in. They actually did two "sitcom" pilots that weren't picked up by the networks, and they were commissioned to do a "sketch show" pilot. Well, that one (Awesometown) also didn't get picked up by the networks. However, one of the networks that passed on it, MTV, hired the three boys to write on the MTV Movie Awards. That's where they met Jimmy Falon, who was the host for that year. Jimmy thought they were hilarious and introduced them to Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live.

In the meantime, Andy had been practicing his standup comedy in clubs, and he even landed a comic showcase TV spot on Comedy Central's Premium Blend. So that's why Lorne hired Andy as a cast member and the other two as writers, directors, and musicians (they mix all of Andy's music vidoes). Lorne hired Andy because he was more experienced in front of audiences and it showed.

Lets just hope that Lorne lets another older cast member go next season in order to bump up Jorma. I'd let go one of these (1) Seth Meyers (they won't, because he's the head writer; they should only use him for the Weekend Update and take him off the cast list), (2) Darrel Hammond, (3) Maya Rudolph, (4) Kenan Thompson, (5) Will Forte, or (6) Bill Hader (he's new, but he's already starting to annoy me. Amy Poehler and Fred Armisen anchor the show. Plus Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis are the future of SNL.

Anyway, that brings us back to the current time. Last year, Andy Samberg was approached by Pam Brady (producer and writer of Just Shoot Me, South park, and Team America: World Police) to star in a movie she wrote, Hot Rod, about a moped rider named Rod. Well, they hit it off, and she let all three members of The Lonely Island rewrite her movie with her and share the credit. She also let the director of their group, Akiva, direct the movie (he had been directing all the SNL Digital Shorts and several music videos). Jorma also stars, and they got Chester Tam (long-time collaborator of The Lonely Island) and Bill Hader into the cast.

More on Pam Brady:

More on Hot Rod:

Back to The Lonely Island talking about themselves:
"The group was founded in 2001 by Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg. The three have been friends since attending junior high and high school together in Berkeley, CA. After high school they parted ways for college (Akiva to UCSC majoring in film, Andy to UCSC followed by NYU Film and Jorma graduated from UCLA Theater.) Eventually they all landed in an apartment in Los Angeles where they resumed filming comedy shorts and christened themselves (and their apartment) 'The Lonely Island'. They have been collectively writing, directing and acting in projects ever since and are frequently joined by their friend Chester Tam and others.

They are represented by United Talent Agency and Mosaic Media.

For fan mail and all other subjects, please send email to: films@TheLonelyIsland.com. The Dudes read all of the email sent to them, but they're so busy, and there's so much of it, that they rarely get a chance to respond to any of it. But they do read everything and appreciate all of the sweet, sweet, fan love."

Their "autobiography" is from the contact page of their website:

Andy Samberg - Romantically linked to Drew Barrymore and Lilly Allen (SNL Promo)

This was awkward for Andy, seeing how Drew and Lilly were hosting the show.

Check out this hilarious Saturday Night Live promo with Andy Samberg and Drew Barrymore.

I don't know if this will last before NBC removes it, but here's hoping:

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - Falls in Love with Drew Barrymore

Andy Samberg falls in love with Drew Barrymore. Great references to John Cusack's "Say Anything..."

"You had me at bucket."

Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live and Justin Timberlake did their Gift in a Box song at Justin's concert.

"Valentines... Flag Day..."

This is as close as we get. Sing along with this girl:

I think I see Chez and two other guys(Jorma and Akiva?) also prancing around with boxes.

It is Andy Samberg of Saturday Night Live and Jorma Taccone (writer on SNL). They are best dudes and members of the 3-man comedy troop, The Lonely Island.

The gag comes from Awesometown where Andy says that he loves sandwhiches.

Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake talk about their Gifts

SAMBERG ''We wanted to do an early-'90s R&B song. I think it was Jorma [Taccone, one of Samberg's writing partners] who said, 'What about giving a gift where you take off the top and your --- is through a hole?' I came up with an idea of the melody. Once we started recording, Justin took the reins and schooled us and made it a much better song. The dude is a hitmaker; that's what he does. Color Me Badd has been brought up more [as an inspiration] because we're white. But we were drawing a lot on Jodeci and R. Kelly.''

TIMBERLAKE ''I remember Andy on set saying, 'No, we need bigger boxes.' [Laughs] Actually, we had trouble shooting it; there were so many takes where we cracked up. I knew it would be well received on the show, but I never expected it to be this phenomenon. I kept saying to Andy that this was going to be bigger than Lazy Sunday. He was like, 'Well, don't jinx it.'''

SAMBERG ''Lazy Sunday was watched over 5 million times [before NBC pulled it from YouTube]. This one was able to take off even more because NBC posted it themselves on YouTube.'' (The "Box'' clip is currently nearing the 12.6 million-view mark.)

Justin never expected it to be a phenomenon, but he said that it would be bigger than Lazy Sunday. Well, Justin, Lazy Sunday put YouTube and NBC videos on the map. It was a phenomenon.

Anyway, it's almost at 15 million views now. It's catching up with The Evolution of Dance (over 40 million, but it's been around a lot longer). NBC needs to put Lazy Sunday, Young Chuck Norris, Natalie Portman Rap, My Testicles, and Harpoon Man up. That would really increase their marketing scope.

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg in concert with Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake has invited Andy Samberg to his Madison Square Garden shows so the two can reunite for a performance of their SNL song “D— in a Box.” A rep for Justin said, “there may be a lot of surprises at Justin’s show.”

Andy Samberg is - The Falconer

Andy Samberg plays as The Falconer (along with most of the SNL cast).

This is for a Saturday Night Live sketch starring Will Forte and Kevin Spacey.

Andy nails a silly, "Out of trees, dirt, and gumption?" He's hilarious.

Kenan Thompson is hilarious, once again playing the big black man who observes the chaos. Kevin Spacey nails the "Christopher Lloyd" doc voice.

Andy Samberg - Asks Natalie Portman Star Wars questions

Andy Samberg asks Natalie Portman questions about Star Wars. This is from the intro monologue that Natalie Portman did on Saturday Night Live. I don't know why they don't just let these guys ask the actors questions about their movie roles more often. This is hilarious!

The above picture is of Jason.

Andy is by far the funniest. Also, Jason Sudeikis proves once again that he is a chameleon. He plays a Luke Skywalker wannabe who gets schooled by Natalie. Chris Parnell pulls his awkward sociopath role out (he used a similar role with Kristen Dunst and that Desparate Housewives chick). Kristin Wiig nails awkward funny (she is awesome), and Finesse Mitchell proves that he should have been fired that season (which he was).
