TRL is Total Request Live, an MTV show where they go through the top music videos, take requests, and interview celebrities.
MTV: Looking at the countdown, what's your favorite video?
Andy Samberg: Hmm ... "Lip Gloss."
MTV: Is there a song not on there that you think should be?
Andy Samberg: Nope! [Laughs.] I mean, I love a lot of music out right now. I'm surprised that The [White] Stripes aren't on there anymore, but I guess it's not really the club music anymore.

MTV: You had your own brush with pop stardom this past year when you did "D--- in a Box" on SNL with Justin Timberlake. How was that experience and can we expect you to reprise that role?
Andy Samberg: I hope so, but I don't know when it would be. What was the process like? It was awesome! [Laughs.]
MTV: Were you surprised that it was nominated for an Emmy?
Andy Samberg: Yeah, I was very surprised. It was, like, the most shocking news I've ever gotten!

MTV: Is working on SNL something you always worked toward?
Andy Samberg: Yeah, since I was eight years old. Growing up as a kid I wanted to do it, and I lucked out.
MTV: You're also a part of The Lonely Island comedy team, who you created the SNL digital shorts and your new film Hot Rod with.
Andy Samberg: Yeah, Akiva Schaffer directed Hot Rod and Jorma Taccone was in it and all three of us worked together on it all the way through.
MTV: What was it like working with your friends on a daily basis?
Andy Samberg: It's the best. It makes it a lot easier and a lot more fun.
MTV: Tell us a little more about Hot Rod.
Andy Samberg: It's full of hilarious jokes and it's way better than that Bourne movie and I also heard that if you go see Underdog your eyes will burn out, but I don't know. I'm pretty sure that's true.
MTV: So that 'stache you rocked in the movie, is it real or fake?
Andy Samberg: I made that. I collected single hairs from show dogs, like really well-trained and top-shelf show dogs, and I took like one hair from each one. I traveled around the world and put it together so it's sort of a supergroup of show dog hair. Only the best for Paramount!

MTV: Aside from the new season of SNL in the fall, do you have any other projects coming up?
Andy Samberg: I'm doing a voice in an animated movie, but I don't know when it's coming out ... hopefully next summer.
MTV: Anything else you want to tell your TRL fans?
Andy Samberg: Um, I love them!
