So why Josh Brolin?
First of all, who is Josh Brolin?
Well, I know him best as the older brother in Goonies, but he also gets bonus points for being married to Diane Lane.

Josh Brolin started his career in TV movies and guest spots on TV shows before getting a more notable role as Brand Walsh in the Richard Donner-directed movie The Goonies (1985). He was then offered the role of Tom Hanson in the series 21 Jump Street but turned it down to star in the series Private Eye (1987), which lasted half a season. The role of Hanson instead went to Johnny Depp. Brolin guest-starred in an episode of the show in its first season.
One of Brolin's more prominent roles early in his career was that of Wild Bill Hickok in the ABC western TV series The Young Riders, which lasted three seasons (1989-92). Although an ensemble piece, his character increasingly received significantly more screentime than his co-stars.
Two other TV series he was involved in include the Aaron Spelling production Winnetka Road (1994) and Mister Sterling (2003). Both series were canned after only a few episodes. His extensive film work consists mainly of supporting, villainous roles. His biggest box office success to date was Paul Verhoeven's Hollow Man (2000), which grossed US $191,200,000 worldwide.
He has done extensive theatre work in Rochester, New York, and has appeared alongside mentor and friend Anthony Zerbe. His most recent film work includes the Planet Terror segment of the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse, the Coen brothers' Academy Award- winning film No Country for Old Men, and Ridley Scott's American Gangster.
Brolin will co-star in Gus Van Sant's upcoming Harvey Milk biopic Milk as city supervisor Dan White, who assassinatedSan Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone.
He will also be in Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone's W., about the life and legacy of President George W. Bush, with Brolin playing the lead role.
Josh Brolin is also rumored to be taking on the role of Snake Plissken in the remake of John Carpenter's cult classic Escape From New York.
Josh Brolin's portrayal of George W. Bush in W:

His step-mother by his father's current marriage is Barbra Streisand.
Brolin has been married to actress Diane Lane since August 15, 2004. He was once engaged to actress Minnie Driver.
Brolin first met Lane in 1994 when he was working with her then-husband Christopher Lambert in the 1994 film The Road Killers.

So why did SNL pick Josh? I have no idea. Was it because they want him to do a George W. Bush impression? Was it because his agents sold him to the SNL managers? What was it exactly?
He certainly doesn't have the name recognition or even the history of starring roles in films.
What do you think?
What will Andy Samberg do with James Brolin for the digital short? Maybe the Laser Cats 4 he mentioned? Maybe he'll do a musical short with Adele. Time will tell!

Josh Brolin is hosting on Oct 18, and Oct 11 is a rerun of the Michael Phelps episode.
Josh Brolin did a convincing Dubya, though he reminded me a lot of his cowboy character from No Country for Old Men... over all, i don't doubt that 'W.' will have the effect Oliver Stone desired
