We agree with Maria. SNL hit this episode out of the park!!! They truly redeemed themselves by making great use of Andy and their satirical reflections of politics.

SNL Promo 1: Anne Hathaway & Jason Sudeikis
SNL Promo 2: Anne Hathaway & Andy Samberg

Palin/Biden Debate
Summary: Gwen Ifill (Queen Latifah) plugs her book while moderating the vice-presidential debate between Gov. Sarah Palin (Tina Fey) and Scranton survivor Sen. Joe Biden (Jason Sudeikis).
Recurring Characters: Gwen Ifill, Joe Biden, Sarah Palin.
Queen Latifah makes a guest appearance!

Wow. The star here for me is Jason Sudeikis' impression of Biden. Tina Fey knocks another one out of the park, but Jason actually holds his own and pulls out some great laughs!

Damn Show Accuses SNL of Ripping Off a Gag
Commentary on SNL's Palin/Biden Debate

Anne Hathaway's Monologue
Summary: After announcing her ex-boyfriend's trouble, Anne Hathaway announces that her new love interest is a Nigerian prince she met over the Internet.

The Lawrence Welk Show
Summary: Lawrence Welk (Fred Armisen) is oblivious to the musical stylings of sisters Janice (Anne Hathaway), Holly (Amy Poehler), Nora (Casey Wilson), and tiny-handed Denise (Kristen Wiig).
This sister act is a sensation!
Hilarious! Kristen Wiig knocks this out of the park.
It's hard to make retardation funny without mocking it, and Kristen walked the fine line like a pro!!!

C-Span Bailout Press Conference
Summary: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Kristen Wiig) holds President George W. Bush (Jason Sudeikis) accountable for the $700 billion that has affected hard-working slackers all across America.
Recurring Characters: President George W. Bush, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank.
Washington approves the bailout package
This one was a funnier take on the Bailout than the Update bit with Jason. Kristen's looks are great!
SNL is trying again with their third George W Bush impression, as they switch from Will Forte to Jason Sudeikis. They made a good move to Jason, but Will Ferrell will always own the George W Bush impression (SNL is implying that they're bringing Will Ferrell back to the role on November 3rd on Weekend Update Thursdays.
Of course, I think Fred Armisen's Frank takes the cake here. Any character that can be taken close to incoherency is going to be magic.
SNL's biting commentary is always great!
Kristen walks away from the microphone and continues talking with no volume difference. =^)
Anne Hathaway is hilarious!!! She and Bill Hader knocked it out of the park!

Guest House
Summary: A group of guys (Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader) struggle to get noticed by a group of girls (Anne Hathaway, Kristen Wiig, Casey Wilson) at a dance club.

SNL Digital Short: Extreme Activities Competition

Nice! Now this is much more like it! We suggested they do something like this three weeks ago: just make fun of the Olympic events with fake events.
I think we pictured silliness a little closer to the actual Olympics, like maybe combining events... like gymnastic sailing... but weird silly events like chair pin are also great.
SNL should totally do sequels of this, because they could think of hundreds of these things that would be hilarious.
The Killers perform "Human"
Weekend Update with Amy Poehler & Seth Meyers
Summary: Orville Willis Forte IV (Will Forte) sings a detailed song outlining which politicians voted yay or nay for the bailout plan.
Weekend Update: Wall Street
Lehman Brothers' Richard Fuld on Update... in a barrel.
Was this funny to anyone?
I think they just posted it to help advertise the new Weekend Update series.
Mary Poppins
Summary: When Michael (Bobby Moynihan) and Jane Banks (Casey Wilson) question the definition of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", Mary Poppins (Anne Hathaway) obliquely allows that it's a sexually transmitted disease that affects the liver. Also featuring Bill Hader and Will Forte as the unfortunate souls.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is fatal
Hilarious! I love where this skit went! Did Bobby Moynihan write it? I see a lot more random cleverness relating to old media (Of Mice and Men, Mary Poppins, etc.) after he started. We'll dig into that on our Bobby Moynihan blog, www.BobbyMoynihan.Blogspot.com
Anne Hathaway sings very well!
Sioux City News 3
Summary: It's bloopers galore for the most Youtubed local newscast in America.
From TAE: Does anyone know anything about this skit?
Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals
Summary: Mark Wahlberg (Andy Samberg) talks to animals.
Barky Bark and The Donkey Bunch
Andy! Andy! Andy! Listen to the laughter in the crowd!!!
Note: This sketch was cut from the dress rehearsal for last season's episode hosted by Steve Carell.
Not Gay
Summary: Moments before moving out of his apartment, Marcus (Jason Sudeikis) reveals his true sexual orientation to roommate Amber (Anne Hathaway).
The Killers perform "Spaceman"
The Less Provocative Songs of Katy Perry (snl)
Summary: Katy Perry (Casry Wilson) maintains the beat but not the sexual electricity in a series of pedestrian sound-alike hits.
Note: This sketch was cut from the dress rehearsals for the episodes hosted by Michael Phelps and Anna Faris.
The weakest link of this week's episode? Not bad for the weakest link. =^)
Next week is Josh Brolin and Adele. Josh Brolin? Why Josh Brolin? More on that soon.
I'm glad SNL is making up for last season by starting early and giving us five episodes in a row!
Overall, SNL knows the value of their political satires, and they really knocked them out of the park so far. They're giving us new hilarious characters in Tina Fey's Palin and Jason Sudeikis' Biden, and they're rolling out all the classics in Darrell Hammond's Bill Clinton, Amy Poehler's Hilary Clinton, Fred Armisen's Obama, and Jason Sudeikis' George W. Bush.
Then they anchor the politics with silliness from the likes of Andy Samberg (with help from Will Forte and Kristen Wiig), Kristen Wiig, and Bobby Moynihan (and his great characters and fiction references).
I think SNL is back in its groove (despite a disappointing episode last week that was light on Andy, Bobby, and political greatness). I hope they can keep it up!!!
Enjoy!

Oct 4ths episode was the BEST one so far, every skit was GREAT!!! And the digital short...IN LOVE WITH IT!!! please post that as soon as you can! I knew Anne Hathaway could deliver!
Can you ask NBC to post Will Forte's Yea/Nay song about the bailout bill? It was so great! I really wish I could see/hear it again.
I agree. Can you post Will Forte's bailout bill song up. That was hilarious. I too would love to hear it again.
Very worthwhile data, lots of thanks for this post.
