Andy Samberg loses Emmy to Justin Timberlake (a look at their Emmys)

Which is ironic, because Justin and Andy were nominated together for Golden Rule / Three Way.

Timberlake claimed the [Emmy for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series], his second career win in the category, for hosting Saturday Night Live's season finale. He beat out Galifianakis, who was nominated for his own SNL hosting stint, among others, including Matt Damon and Will Arnett, both up for their work on 30 Rock.

Timberlake earned another Emmy for singing his SNL monologue. (Techically, he won for cowriting the song that he sang.)

Seth Meyers accepted the award for Timberlake's monologue, and had this to say about Andy Samberg...

Seth Meyers accepts for SNL saying: “Justin Timberlake wanted to be here. But we said, no, they really want to see the writers.” Backstage, Meyers said that Justin Timberlake provided the idea of singing a song about not wanting to sing, and that gave the writers something to run with. Asked where he plans to keep his Emmy, Meyers said: “I’m just going to put it somewhere where Andy Samberg can see it.”

Interestingly, Seth Meyers also won for the "Justin Timberlake Monologue" song (he accepted the award), and Katreese Barnes won, who also won with Justin and Andy for Junk in a Box and was nominated with Justin for "I Like Sports" on the Espys. So she has had two wins and a nom with Justin!

And this year Justin got three nominations for one episode (talk about efficient) and two wins (his best year yet).

Meanwhile Andy has had a total of 6 nominations, all for "Original Music and Lyrics" on SNL...

So even if Andy didn't get a win this year, he got three more nominations (in one category; talk about impressive), he had three legendary teamups (Akon, Timberlake, and Bolton), and he even had another two teamups that didn't make it (Nikki Minaj on The Creep and Rihanna on Shy Ronnie 2).

So even without a win, it was a great year at the Emmys for Andy Samberg!
