Russell Brand has advised MTV Movie Awards host Andy Samberg to lay off the criticism at the 2009 ceremony.

"Do not criticise George W Bush," the British comic told MTV News, adding: "You will receive death threats.
"Do not jokingly criticise the Jonas Brothers - you will receive less-threatening death threats."
While hosting the VMA show last September, Russell made fun of the Jonas Brothers for their purity rings and abstinence pledges, along with jokes about the former President.
"There's nothing worse than opening a letter and then seeing in it a death threat," he said.
"You think, 'Hold on a minute. I wasn't looking forward to the letter particularly. Now I fear death. Ruins a perfectly good read'."

Brand is a comedian. I recognized him from Bedtime Stories (with Adam Sandler), but you might notice him from other stuff:

RB is absolutely hilarious in Forgetting Sarah Marshall! You should check it out- you'll never not recognize him again;). His quotes from the article are really funny when said on the MTV video clips for the Award Show. Links are posted in the comments a few posts down. Enjoy!:)
Associated Press posted a video interview with Andy- find there or at Yahoo! Entertainment.
Russell Brand's comments were a little rude and really not needed at the VMAs. Brand is funny in many other ways, he could have been a tad more original. Plus I don't think Andy needed to be forewarned about being rude, I think Andy will take the show in a completely different and very funny direction.
? That's his humor. He's not serious. Maybe watch the video and you can see he's joking.
Yes. Brand is definitely joking.
