'Bollywood Hero' Looks to Cash in on Culture
The surge of Bollywood on America is sort of annoying lately, huh?
I mean, I got the whole "Slumdog Millionaire" thing, but us Yankees like to hop on one bandwagon and then run it into the ground like some tragic ending to that Oregon Trail computer game. It's just a matter of time before the whole thing becomes some tragic typhoid fever fiasco and we all have to circle our wagons until the next hot thing comes moseying into town.
Until that happens, Hollywood is still cashing in on the massive dance numbers and colorful couture that Indian culture has made an undeniable part of the entertainment industry. The newest stars to jump on the Bollywood bandwagon are a few cheeky former "Saturday Night Live" cast members.
IFC has put together a three-part miniseries starring Chris Kattan and Maya Rudolph appropriately titled "Bollywood Hero." In which they both (along with cameos from Andy Samberg and Keanu Reeves) play themselves, dealing with Chris' decision to move to India and take on Bollywood. Also staring is veteran Groundling's actor Kip King, Kattan's real father, who plays, well, his father. Spicing up the screen, and adding some legitimacy, are Pooja Kumar, a former Miss India USA, and Neha Dhupia, Miss India in 2002.
Take a look at the entire cast, along with Rachel Dratch and Seth Meyers who came out to support their "Saturday Night Live" brother, at last night's premiere of "Bollywood Hero" below.
Note: No Andy in this video =^(

I think it's cool that Andy's getting involved in this show and that he's listed at the same level as stars like Keanu Reeves. One day Andy will be a movie star and not just a digital shorts and TV star. =^)
Enjoy!
