Andy Samberg - is back on Saturday Night Live (07-08 Season)
Big surprise... Andy Samberg is back on Saturday Night Live for the 07-08 season. The first episode of the season is this Saturday, 9/29/07.
Apparently they still aren't featuring Jorma yet. =^(
http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070925/THINGS0206/709250307
It looks like there are no changes to the cast this year. It's Hammond's 13th year (a record). I think Maya Rudolph, Will Forte, Fred Armisand, and Keenan Thompson should head out soon. I'm glad Seth is still out of the skits.
The first episode of the season is to be hosted by Lebron James, followed by Seth Rogan. Seth and Andy appeared in the Ron Google skit Andy did for MTV. Here's the skit.
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - New movie: Space Chimp
From Hollywood Reporter:
"NEW YORK -- Andy Samberg, Jeff Daniels, Kenan Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Patrick Warburton will voice characters in the CG-animated comedy "Space Chimps," a Vanguard Animation and Starz Media production for 20th Century Fox.
Barry Sonnenfeld, a creative consultant on the film since production began last fall, has joined Vanguard CEO John Williams as a producer on the film.
Samberg will play Ham III, the ne'er-do-well grandson of the first chimp astronaut sent into space (loosely based on NASA's real-life space chimp Ham). Seeking to capitalize on the Ham family name, a senator (Tucci) recruits Ham III to travel through a black hole to a planet where he and his simian colleagues (Hines, Warburton) help rid the local aliens of an evil leader (Daniels). Chenoweth will play a helpful alien, and Thompson will play Ham III's mentor.
The film is written and directed by Kirk DeMicco ("Racing Stripes") and produced in association with Odyssey Entertainment, which will rep international sales. The film is scheduled for release next year.
Sonnenfeld's productions include "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" and "Out of Sight," and his directing credits include the "Addams Family" and "Men in Black" films.
Saturday Night Live cast member Samberg will be seen in the upcoming Hot Rod. Samberg is repped by UTA and Mosaic Media Group."
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ic5446f42066b369c0dee3d928f80740a
Also on IMDB:
"Ham III (Samberg), the grandson of the first chimp astronaut, is blasted off into space by an opportunity-seeking senator (Tucci). Soon, the fun-loving chimp has to get serious about the mission at hand: Rid a far-away planet of their nefarious leader (Daniels). Fortunately for Ham III, two of his simian peers (Hines and Warburton) are along for the ride."
http://imdb.com/title/tt0482603/
Samberg in a Vanguard film? Their last film, Valiant, was poorly done. Let's hope Sonenberg and the new blood (new writers & director) make this a better effort.
Enjoy!

Andy is Cool Beans.
"The Cool Beans Scene from Andy Samberg's movie, HOT ROD"

Andy Samberg - Yu-Gi-Oh Narnia Rap
So somebody took the music and sound from the Narnia rap and did a magnificent job editing Yu-Gi-Oh shots to it. The result is pretty funny, especially for Yu-Gi-Oh fans.

"I think it's safe to say that when we first set out to make this song, we were all thinking 'Emmy!'" quipped Samberg when he collected the accolade. "The other thing we were thinking was, 'Hey! Here's this young up-and-comer, Justin Timberlake, who is clearly very talented and could clearly use a break'. So, Justin, if you're out there, congrats to you, kid."
And here's an image of Justin; he's sorry that he wasn't there to accept his first Emmy. Look at him. He's crying. =^(

I hope to see Andy Samberg join his friends on this list soon.
The bottom line is that Saturday Night Live has always pumped out talent, and it continues to do so. The fact that Lorne is helping get Andy into movies is a testament to Andy's future in film. He and the Lonely Island need to get a script together to pitch. I'm sure they made Hot Rod funnier than it would have been, but they need to start with a solid script in order to get people interested in the movie. They have to be interested in the characters and the jokes. While the jokes in the trailers made us smile, they didn't make us laugh. And the characters weren't strong enough to interest us.
So try again, Andy! Good luck!!!
Also, here's a short list of SNL movies from:
http://www.saturday-night-live.com/snl/notso-faq/theshow.html
Q: How many movies have featured characters that originally appeared on "SNL"?
A: 17: "Mr. Mike's Mondo Video" (1979), "The Blues Brothers" (1980), "Gilda Live" (1980), "Wayne's World" (1992), "Mo' Money" (1992), "Bob Roberts" (1992), "Mr. Saturday Night" (1992), "Coneheads" (1993), "Wayne's World 2" (1993), "It's Pat" (1994), "Casper" (1995), "Stuart Saves His Family" (1995), "Blues Brothers 2000" (1998), "A Night at the Roxbury" (1998), "Office Space" (1999), "Superstar" (1999), and "The Ladies Man" (2000).
On a side note, Michael had this interesting tidbit to say in his article:
"In the goofy Hot Rod, a movie originally planned for Ferrell and who remains an executive producer, the gangly Samberg shows he has charisma, even in this one-note role, another one of those child-man characters that moviemakers pandering to America's youth find so endearing. Ferrell has been a master of this kind of role, in movies ranging from Elf to Blades of Glory, and has yet to wear out his welcome."

The Dear Sister Spoofs continue with this video made from clips of The Office.
Dear Sister was a Saturday Night Live skit from Andy Samberg.
"Song is Imogen Heap "Hide & Seek"
A spoof of the SNL digital short "Dear Sister" which spoofs the season 2 finale of The OC (that appeared when Shia Labeouf was hosting)."

Andy Samberg - 17-Minute Interview
Here is a 17-minute audio interview with Andy Samberg:
http://www.hollywoodchicago.com/2007/08/audio-17-minute-interview-with-hot-rod.html
There's a really cool part of this interview where Andy talks about auditioning for SNL, that Jorma also auditioned, and he talks about how the digital shorts came about. He also freely admits that he doesn't really have any characters he does on Saturday Night Live.
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - Likes Twinkies and Cake (On Men's Health)
Andy Samberg is on the cover of Men's Health magazine.
From Perez:
"They put someone on the cover of the new issue of Men’s Health and they didn’t have him show any skin???? And, Andy Samberg. Really??? The Saturday Night Live funnyman is Men’s Health material????"
http://perezhilton.com/?p=3558
I agree with Perez. I don't know why Andy's on there. However, he managed to tie it in with funny food photos. =^)
