Two friends celebrate the holidays romping around New York City meeting all kinds of interesting people.



Hilarious! Loved all these cameos and characters.

But I can't help but think that this was a waste of teaming up Andy Samberg and Katy Perry. They have both done amazing things, and together... well I expected more than something a little silly and weird like this. It's almost like Jorma or Andy wrote it without thinking about how to fully leverage Andy + Katy together.

Who was Abraham Lincoln? Anyone know? Caesar also looks familiar.

Andy Samberg Seduces Women with Chess (SNL Digital Short)

Olivia Wilde and Jason Segel give cameo appearances here...

Want a new approach to picking up women? Try a classic game, such as chess, or even a staring contest.

I didn't see the Staring Contest one, but there are a few bits here, like eating glass...



I think this really goes back to a lot of the infomercial skits that were more common on In Living Color, SCTV, and 70s/80s SNL (specifically Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy were masters of the infomercial skits, where they established repeat characters with them).

New Andy Samberg Digital Short: Wish It Would Rain (SNL)

A heartbroken singer is desperate for some rain to fall for dramatic effect in his music video.



Amusing, and well supported by Emma Stone, Fred, Jason, and Vanessa... but it wasn't super hilarious and the voice is a little painful to listen to, which means it wouldn't make it on a CD or the radio.

Andy Samberg interviews Drake (SNL Digital Short)

Ha! I often wonder if the digital short will be with Andy Samberg this week (thinking back to when the host or Fred Armisen take over... it's usually just not as funny if Andy isn't involved in some way).

And this week I wasn't disappointed!

Get to know international music sensation Drake in ways you've never seen.



This idea has its roots back when Andy had a short interview with Justin Timberlake that ended after the first question, when Andy asked Justin when he was going to make music again and stop acting.

Similarly, this concept is a series of short interviews with the same person, Drake. They make even less sense than the Timberlake one did. =^)

Which was your favorite bit here? I liked the dubs. So basic, but still very funny.

A man shopping for some new shirts (Andy Samberg) decides to see how he looks in a V-neck and quickly realizes its not his look.

Andy and Ben have a V-Neck Showdown (reminds me of the "Walk-Off" in Zoolander). Andy wins (sort of).

Yeah, in the end it went exactly where I thought it was going when Andy and Nasim were talking about a deep V-Neck.

Hilarious! I don't know if Ben's weird character helped any, but it was very funny!

I thought it was enjoyable, but you know everyone's comparing the shorts to the musical digital shorts. So seeing how there was no digital short last week, this is a solid short, and it's good to see Andy being goofy again... but we're all still waiting for the first musical short of the season, and we're sorry to see that Melissa McCarthy and Andy didn't team up for a digital short this week.

Andy was only in three skits this week (digital short, The Essentials show, and Complaints).

It's early to tell for sure, but I'm going to toss in my hat that Melissa McCarthy will get an Emmy nomination for hosting this show. I think she nailed a solid show, showed some great characters, showed some stellar comedy chops, and is coming off an Emmy win this year (2011) for her show, Mike & Molly. What do you think?

I might update this opinion later as I go back and review more of this week's episode.
