Andy Samberg, Joanna Newsom, and Akiva leaving the Comedy Awards
So further proof that Andy Samberg is still dating Joanna Newsom despite the rumors that they split (which came from the Newsom fans).
Thanks to Rayanna Janae for the scoop!
Did you get a good look at Joanna? It's a little hard to see her, but I'm pretty sure that's her. What do you think?
Also, the dopes who filmed this title it like Andy and Akiva are drunk. I don't think that's true. Thoughts on that?

Andy Samberg to shoot I Hate You Dad & Hand Job this summer
SNL stars Andy Samberg and Bill Hader are teaming up for a big-screen comedy but before you get your hopes up, it's not the blockbuster LASER CATS! film we've all been waiting for. Instead Samberg and Hader will co-star with Donald Glover and Aubrey Plaza (together co-stars of MYSTERY TEAM) for the indie comedy THE HAND JOB.
The film will be written and directed by Maggie Carey, Hader's wife, and will star Plaza as a type-A high school student who decides to lose her virginity before college (so kinda like SUPERBAD for girls). In addition to that cast, SCOTT PILGRIM stars Johnny Simmons and Mae Whitman have also signed on to star in the film.
Samberg is filming the Adam Sandler comedy I HATE YOU DAD while on hiatus from SNL this summer but will find time to shoot a supporting role in HAND JOB while in NYC. Hader can be seen next in PAUL, which opens next week. As for LASER CATS! who knows if it'll ever see the big screen. James Cameron this is your chance!

Andy Samberg - new movie with Rashida Jones (Celeste and Jesse Forever)
Well wouldn't you know it? Now that Hollywood is finally booking Andy for films, the good news keeps rolling in. When someone is hot in Hollywood, then more people notice and are willing to take that chance.
Andy hasn't been in movies since 2009 (Cloudy & I Love You Man), but now he has three supporting roles to be coming ('What's Your Number?' and 'Friends with Benefits' are shot, with 'Hand Job' slated for 2013). Plus this is his second unofficial starring role (the other one is 'I Hate You Dad' with Adam Sandler). So Hollywood is beginning to notice him.
Special thanks to Anony for the scoop, who says, "Hurray Andy!"
===============================
Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg Team Up for Romantic Dramedy 'Celeste and Jesse Forever'
Rashida Jones and 'Saturday Night Live''s Andy Samberg are set to star in the upcoming romantic dramedy 'Celeste and Jesse Forever,' which was written by Jones and actor-writer Will McCormack.
With Lee Toland Krieger directing the film, the story is about a couple that's getting divorced but wants to remain friends -- a kind of inversion, perhaps, of the just-hooking-up subgenre of 'Friends With Benefits' and 'No Strings Attached,' stated the L.A. Times.
"Our movie is about two people who love each other a ton but they don't know what to do with that love, and how do you let that person go," Jones said. "It's very different from: 'I like having sex with this person because I'm so modern but then, ooh, maybe I like them.' I'm less interested in that story." She added, "It's the version of 'When Harry Met Sally' 20 years later, or 'Blue Valentine.' It's really about how you break up with someone."
Jones is one of the few black actresses being offered colorless roles in films these days.
The Los Angeles native was featured as a lawyer in the Oscar-nominated film 'The Social Network' and is a co-star of NBC's 'Parks and Recreation.' She is currently gracing the screen in the independent film opposite Chris Messina in 'Monogamy.'
In a recent interview, the daughter of music producer Quincy Jones talked about her encounters as a woman of color.
"It's such a complicated issue. I'm so proud of all of my heritages, and I've got lots, and I'm so happy to be a part of the history or people of color in film in any way that I can be. It definitely bums me out that it's not more represented, but I also feel like at a certain point everybody's going to kind of look like me and we're not going to be able to judge each other based on the way that we look."
Coincidentally, Jones and Samberg were featured together in another romantic comedy, 'I Love You, Man,' where Jones played the fiancée to Paul Rudd's character.
"Whatever discrimination people have faced, or I've even faced -- "You're not white enough"; "you're not black enough" -- everybody's going to get over it. I'm proud to be black, I'm proud to be Jewish, I'm proud to be all these things, but I don't ever want people to feel like they can take ownership of me and use it as a fight against the other side. I just feel like we're kind of past that. I feel like it's not postmodern to think that way."
Jones will next be seen in 'The Muppets,' with Jason Segel, 'The Big Year,' with Owen Wilson and Steve Martin, and 'My Idiot Brother,' with Rudd again.

Andy Samberg and TLI - Filter interview
Here is some text from the Filter interview that The Lonely Island did:
Andy: Also, we don’t sleep, because sleep is the cousin of death. But we do nap. Which is kind of like the great-nephew of death.
Akiva: Nap is the cousin of life.
Andy: What happens if naps and sleep have a baby together; is that the Antichrist?
Akiva: I think that’s puking, right? Puking is the son of naps and sleep.
Can you explain each of your roles in the group? Is that even possible?
Akiva: It’s very easy, I can just tell you. Just rent Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and you’ll basically have it right there. In fairness, you could just watch the first movie as well, but The Squeakquel is kind of the Empire Strikes Back of the Chipmunk movies.
Andy: The impending triad.
Akiva: In case you need more explained, I’m clearly Simon. And then the little fat one, Jorm, is obviously Theodore. The hunky lead, the arrogant, cocky jerk stealing the spotlight, who’s clearly Alvin, is Andy.
Jorma: He even has a big A on his chest. For “Adultery.”
Andy: In a lot of ways, I like to think Lorne Michaels is Dave.
Jorma: I don’t think that me being the fat one is really a personality trait.
Andy: No, the sweet, fat one.
Jorma: Thank you! Thank you for that adjective.
Andy: I also really don’t want to wash over the fact that we all believe the A on Alvin’s sweatshirt is for “Adultery.”
Jorma: You find that out in the movie.
Andy: The classic tale of The Squeakquel.
What is it like to direct and be directed by your best friends?
Jorma: Awful.
Andy: I love it.
Jorma: What’s funny is that I think there’s very little difference in what we do now from what we did when we had no money and nobody helping us. It’s just that there’s a lot more super-skilled people around doing all the jobs we used to do, like making props. When it comes down to it, it’s just the three of us fucking around and trying to make comedy.
Andy: The honest answer is it’s great, because we have a shorthand with each other, we don’t have to babysit each other’s feelings, we can just say, “No, that’s wrong, do it this way,” and it gets done a lot faster and better.
Akiva: There’s no tiptoeing.

Andy Samberg & Adam Sandler comedy - in Boston?
So this is good news just because it's becoming more likely that Andy will get this critical role.
Word is, location scouts for the Adam Sandler-Andy Samberg comedy, “I Hate You Dad,” were in town the other day checking out potential shooting sites. Woop! Woop!
The folks checked out the oh-so-hip hotel W Boston, as well as a law firm on State Street, we’re told. The funny flick, scheduled to begin filming in June, is about a meddling father, played by Sandler, who wreaks havoc on his son’s relationship with his fiancee.
Um, isn’t Sandler only 12 years older than Samberg??? Maybe that’s the joke.
Anyway, the directors are “Hot Tub Time Machine” screenwriters Sean Anders and John Morris.

Ask ASB: Why doesn't Andy Samberg seriously answer interview questions?
Why doesn't Andy Samberg seriously answer interview questions?
Andy usually tries to answer jokingly.
Sometimes he'll answer honestly (he does this on talk shows). But usually he tries to think of a way to answer with a joke (or a story that might be funny).
There are several reasons for this, but I think the first is expectations.
It's strange. People expect him to give great or interesting answers. And they expect him to be hilarious all the time. So he (like many comedians) has found that if he turns it on and answers with jokes, then that meets expectations well. But if he gets vulnerable and honest (as some comedians have) then he gets judged more, and he becomes the "unfunny comedian."
So it's almost like a defensive mechanism that comedians use. I even saw Aubrey Plaza go through this. For her first 6 months to a year once she was "discovered," she answered interview questions honestly and transparently. But then she started sounding a little uninteresting or whiny, some media folks pointed to it, and it probably frustrated her a little. Then she started showing up at interviews as her April character, being stone cold, emotionless, and saying silly and crazy things.
Essentially, Andy landed at the same place (trying to make people laugh in interviews), but it was natural for him to get there (he was always there).
Other more traditional actors "talk their craft" more, almost like politicians do, where their guard is bringing it back to their work as actors and actresses (because they're not expected to be funny). It's really quite interesting.
Andy tries to make the person asking the questions laugh. It's like a game he plays with himself, whether or not he can get them on the first question or how long it takes for him to get them.
In one interview, his interviewer asked her first question, "What's your favorite color?" Andy thought hard for a second or two, and then he said, "Blend." She laughed hysterically and Andy said, "Got you! Nailed you on the first question!"
It really is a game for him.

Commercial - The Original Kings Of Catchphrase Comedy
Zach Galifianakis ... Pete "Airhorn" Schultz
Fred Armisen ... Mike "Insert Joke Here" Henry
Vanessa Bayer ... Addi "News FLash" Sweeney
Paul Brittain ... Goran "Funky Boy" Bogdan
Abby Elliott ... Fur Coat Rhonda
Taran Killam ... Barry The Plumbing Gentleman
Taran Killam ... announcer (voice)
Seth Meyers ... Boston Powers
Bobby Moynihan ... Slappy Pappy
Jay Pharoah ... Dr. Velociraptor
Andy Samberg ... Chip "So Yeah I'm Single" Fenney
Jason Sudeikis ... White Bernie Mac
Kenan Thompson ... David "Beef Jelly" Winfield
The Original Kings Of Catchphrase Comedy
"If you know their names, you know their catchphrases!" Pretty funny.
Zach's airhorn bit was the best. Boston Powers was also pretty good, even though it was pretty much a visual gag (we almost never see Seth outside Weekend Update). What do you think?
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg in Friends with Benefits (new trailer)
WARNING: This trailer includes a lot of sex talk.
Here is the new trailer with Andy (Andy's briefly in the beginning when he breaks up with Mila):
Andy's probably not in the film much. Emma Stone is the other one who breaks up with Justin.
Hey, there's also Jenna Elfman and Woody Harrelson in the film. Nice!
Thanks to Michelle for the scoop!
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg in Scared Straight with Zach Galifianakis (SNL)
Sketch - Scared Straight
Zach Galifianakis ... Larry Bernstein
Bill Hader ... kid
Bobby Moynihan ... kid
Andy Samberg ... kid
Jason Sudeikis ... Officer Sikorsky
Kenan Thompson ... Lorenzo McIntosh
Two inmates get graphic when talking about jail to some troubled teenagers.
Wow, these are pretty gross. But Andy does a good job, and I love Zach's character.
Nobody broke out of character in this one. Probably because they've done it so much.
This is the sixth one of these Scared Straight. The first was on 11.15.2008.
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg in March Madness Cold Open (SNL)
Cold Opening - Selection Sunday
Fred Armisen ... Muammer Kaddafi
Bill Hader ... Charlie Sheen
Steve Higgins ... announcer (voice)
Nasim Pedrad ... Tracy Wolfson
Andy Samberg ... Dick Vitale
Jason Sudeikis ... Jim Nantz
Kenan Thompson ... Greg Gumbel
Kristen Wiig ... Melissa Leo
On this special Selection Sunday, the CBS team breaks down this year's crazy bracket.
Nasim is good; she reminds me of Cheri Oteri. This is Andy's first time as Dick Vitale. Jay Mohr did him twice.
A nice ensemble piece. Did you like it?
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg to star in The Hand Job (movie)
Thanks to Anony for the scoop! As Anony said, "Andy has signed onto the movie The Hand Job with a great cast written and to be directed by Bill Hader's wife, Maggie! Go Andy!"
==========================
Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg and Community's Donald Glover have signed on to The Hand Job, a new comedy written and directed by Maggie Carey. Carey's husband, Bill Hader, has already signed on to the film, along with Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza. Plaza will star as a high school valedictorian looking to lose her virginity before she leaves for college. Oh, and Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat has also signed on. Maeby, you've come back to us! [Variety]
From:
http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/03/andy_samberg_and_donald_glover.html
==================
Sounds like a typical teen sex comedy, but this one will not be typical, as it is starring some wacky, wacky comedians.
Maggie first directed Aubrey in the Jeannie Tate show series of Web shorts. So now Maggie is going to leverage Aubrey's success, throw three more successful TV actors in there, all who want to build a film career, and you have a win-win movie for everyone (especially the audience). Great idea Maggie!
I'm just not sure if we need to see another losing virginity film where a bunch of actors try to look 10 years younger than they are. The 40 year old virgin had a nice spin on it, but the 18 year old virgin? John Hughes did that like 8 times in the 80s.
And what's with the title (other than controversy)?
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg is Liam on SNL's Weekend Update
This is Andy's second appearance as Liam. His first was last year on 02.06.2010.
Liam, a teenager who just woke up, stops by Weekend Update to comment on rising oil prices and some of his recent dreams.
Kind of funny and silly. What do you think?

Zach Galifianakis SNL Promo - Jason & Jessie J
Zach Galifianakis hosts an all new SNL 3/12 with musical guest Jessie J.
So Zach probably wrote the first joke and Jason the second.
This just shows me how much funnier Andy and Zach were together!
Are you looking forward to anything tonight? I'd like to see Andy and Zach team up in a digital short (last time it was obviously Zach's idea of him invading various shows).
Enjoy!

Andy Samberg and TLI - MTV Spring Break Highlights
These are clips from what aired on MTV for Spring Break in 2009. I think TLI got permission from MTV (or were asked by MTV) to publish them on YouTube.
It's interesting that MTV asked TLI to host their spring break and for Andy to host the MTV Movie Awards, seeing how MTV rejected their Awesometown TV pilot (but to be fair, TLI probably wouldn't have been as good on TV with their own show as they would be now).
Thanks to Anony for the scoop!

Featured Player Update - Vanessa gets laughs with the real Miley Cyrus
Show - The Miley Cyrus Show
Miley Cyrus ... Justin Bieber
Vanessa Bayer ... Miley Cyrus
Taran Killam ... Bebop
Jason Sudeikis ... Billy Ray Cyrus
Miley does her best Charlie Sheen impression and welcomes Justin Bieber to her show.
I don't know. It's hard to see Miley as a boy. Especially with makeup on. =^)
So the weird thing here is I guess Miley is supposed to be Justin and slipping into herself as Miley being frustrated with Vanessa's impression of Miley or slipping into saying "Pretty Cool" as if Miley actually says that (which she started to start say in real life after she saw Vanessa's impression). Hmmmm. It didn't work very well. I would have preferred it if Miley just tried to stick with a Justin Bieber impression.
So what do you do when a host (or guest) comes on when someone on the show is doing an impression of them? That question has come up a lot on SNL. For Robert Deniro and Joe Pesci, it meant Joe Pesci beating Jim Breur with a baseball bat (while Jim was playing Joe on his Joe Pesci Show).
For Dave Matthews, it meant Dave playing Ozzy Osbourne while Bill Hader played him on Andy Samberg's Mello Show (where Andy plays Jack Johnson). For Sarah Palin, it meant Tina Fey hears that Sarah's coming, and she runs away as Sarah walks up. For Hilary Clinton, it means that Amy Poehler is doing her Hilary Clinton impression in front of Hilary Clinton as they talk candidly about Hilary (definitely the most entertaining).
Overall, this was a good episode of the Miley Cyrus Show, which was starting to get a little old, mostly because they've done it four times this season now (that's crazy). I think Vanessa knows it's the best thing she's got, and it's a fast way to get accepted by the audience. So it's actually pretty smart of her to do it as much as she can, but she needs to be consistently funny in other roles too.
Show - Our Time!
Miley Cyrus ... Fergie
Abby Elliott ... Khloé Kardashian
Jay Pharoah ... Will.i.am
Jay Pharoah ... announcer (voice)
Andy Samberg ... Taboo
Kenan Thompson ... apl.de.ap
You've seen those other two guys from the Black Eyed Peas, and now they have their own show.
Hahahaha. These are new impressions. Kenan's first time as apl.de.ap, but Finesse Mitchell did him once. Andy's first time as Taboo, but Jon Heder played him once on SNL. Jay Pharoah's first time as Will.i.am, but Kenan played him once. And Amy Poehler played Fergie last time (it was on 10/8/05).
Abby has done Khloe 4 times now, but this is the first time without her sisters. I think Abby can definitely hold her own without the Kardashian sisters.
I didn't find Jay's dancing particularly funny.
At one point, Jay said something random and the audience laughed. He should have said something random each time before he left.
OVERALL
1. Vanessa Bayer - Vanessa takes the Featured Player cake, with her Miley Cyrus impression (yet again). Having the real Miley Cyrus helps, of course. Vanessa also supported in three other skits.
2. Taran Killam - Taran Killam was in seven skits, but none were terribly amazing. He just had a few funny moments. However, he played Francois for the second time (they need to make that into a video clip).
3. Paul Brittain - Paul was in four skits. His piano player on the cruise ship had an amusing joke. He also got to play Marius in the French skit (for the second time).
4. Jay Pharoah - Jay was only in one skit, playing the voice and Will.i.am in Our Time. His dancing and looks weren't overly funny. He made the audience laugh once, though.
5. . Nasim Pedrad - Nasim supported in four skits, including playing the Witch in Beastly.
Enjoy!

Jennifer Aniston is manhunting Andy Samberg?
What? This doesn't feel very credible at all. What's the deal?
So Jennifer is in New York? Was she seen with Andy Samberg? Well Andy is linked to an upcoming Adam Sandler movie (I Hate You, Dad) and Jennifer was just in an Adam Sandler movie (Just Go With It), so perhaps they were in that same circle. She's sold her $42 million house in CA and is shopping for a 2,950 square-foot penthouse in Manhattan. I could believe that. No reason to own a huge house without a family. But this article is comparing her to Sex in the City and Friends? Come on. Get real. So she moves; big deal.
Also, it's been awhile since we've had confirmation that Andy and Joanna Newsom are still together (but it's always safer to assume they are still together). So there's a remote possibility that this is legit.
However, just mentioning Andy's name on a list of three people is hardly factual information. Where were they seen together? Why does this reporter think she might be interested in Andy (or vice versa)?
And thanks to Anony for this scoop!

[Jennifer Aniston] recently cut her trademark long blond hair into a shorter, "sleek bob," and that's not the only change she's making in her life. She's also moving. The former Friends star has put her home in Beverly Hills up for sale and she's condo hunting in New York City...
The super-successful actress has listed her former home for an unbelievable $42 million and focused her attention on a 2,950-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath Manhattan penthouse. And she's already set her sights on "a few good men - including Jets football quarterback Mark Sanchez, Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg and actor Jason Lewis...
However, the prospective new penthouse comes equipped with a nursery...

Enjoy!
Anyway, read the article for yourself...

Saturday Night Live Backstage (videos)
So SNL aired a special called "Saturday Night Live Backstage" to talk more about making SNL. It shows interviews (like a documentary), mixed with clips from the show.
An all-new 2 hour SNL special aired 2/20 at 9pm. SNL Backstage looks at what goes on behind the scenes to make SNL for the past 36 seasons.
This next bit shows Joe Piscopo talking about his Frank Sinatra skits. He had a deep respect for Frank, and so he wanted his skits to not offend him.
In this next video, Albert Brooks talks about his first SNL short experiences. He obviously didn't quite get what Lorne was after. (Lorne wanted short 3-minute pieces like The Lonely Island's shorts, where he can stick them in places when he needs more time for his cast to get ready.
In this next video, Pen and Teller talk about their magic trick they did for the show. This is pretty funny. This is a good trick, and the audience was obvioiusly involved in it, so they think it's funnier than the viewers would:
In this next video, Buck Henry talks about his interesting censorship experience:
This next bit is Victoria Jackson about singing her Bimbo song. Lorne is notorious for making his people wait two hours to meet with him. I'm putting this last, because it was relevant at the time, but it wasn't super funny, and her singing voice is a little annoying.
Enjoy!

Ask AS: How long do cast members stay Featured Players?
The normal route is to be a featured player for two years. Cast members to pull off this trick (to go to repertory player after only one year as a featured player) were Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, and Kristen Wiig (in 2006), Will Forte (2003), Amy Poehler (2002), Tina Fey (2001), Chris Parnell, Jimmy Fallon, and Horatio Sanz (1999), Chris Kattan (1996), Molly Shannon (1995), Norm MacDonald (1994), Chris Farley, Julia Sweeney, and Chris Rock (1991), Mike Meyers (1989), Kevin Nealon (1987).
Those unlucky enough to go three years as a featured player (I'm listing their year they graduated to repertory player) include Jay Mohr (1996; Jay was actually kept on the show as a featured player a third year, but he quit when learning that he wasn't graduating to repertory player), Tim Meadows, David Spade, and Adam Sandler (1993; it was a big year with lots of players, so that's why).
Cast members to have no years as a featured player (went right to repertory player) include Ana Gasteyer and Tracy Morgan (1996), Darrell Hammond, Cheri Oteri, Jim Breuer, and Will Ferrell (1995), Mark McKinney (he was in Kids in the Hall; 1994), Chris Elliott and Janeane Garofalo (1994), Michael McKean (1993), Dana Carvey, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson, and Phil Hartman (1986), Nora Dunn, Jon Lovitz, and Dennis Miller (1985). (I won't go earlier than 1985 because that's when featured players were more likely just writers that Lorne put on camera a lot, and they were never meant to become repertory players.)
Enjoy!

Miley Cyrus SNL Promo (with Kenan)
Miley Cyrus hosts an all-new SNL March 5 with musical guest The Strokes.
My favorite one was at the beginning where they switched voices. =^)
It would be "pretty cool" if Miley did a musical digital short with Andy Samberg.
