So this is a commercial that Funny Or Die paid T-Pain for to get exclusive of Andy Samberg supporting his friend T-Pain by boosting his app in this video (that's the least Andy could do since T-Pain collaborated with him on On a Boat). And the video's on Funny Or Die, a Web site owned by Will Ferrell, who produced Andy Samberg in Hot Rod (after turning the role down for himself). Now we came full circle. =^)

Finally, the answer to all our questions!! Here's a new video released of Andy Samberg behind the scenes of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The video Chester posted clearly was just of them having some fun while filming for this video. And all the Twitter posts of Andy spotted at Sony Pictures matches up with this video as well! Chester and Andy Samberg's Back Hand Five

Update: We added another possibility... Chester's movie he's directing. Originally posted 9/1/09.

Thanks to Sarah! for this link, Chester just posted a new video a few hours ago with himself and Andy. This is his first video in a year! Hopefully there will be more to come, especially with Andy.

So I think the top two possibilities for where this video comes from are...

1) MacGruber: Andy was MIA between an LA radio interview (when he said that Jorma and Akiva were off working on MacGruber) and on a recent trip last weekend to Tokyo with Joanna. There was a few weeks in there when Andy could have swung on over to the MacGruber set to film this bit with Chez. Now, we know that these suits are mocap suits. It probably means that they're bodies are being replaced by something animated. Could be for MacGruber, since it has a movie budget! This sounds like Akiva directing, and we know that Akiva's on scene on the MacGruber set. Chez appeared in the dudes first movie (Hot Rod), and so he might appear in this Jorma movie too.

2) San Bernardino Bound: Chester's directorial debut, this film features Andy Samberg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Mc Lovin in Superbad), and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh on Nickelodeon). Chez writes and directs, and it is produced by The Collective, a new but successful indie production company (so this film is legit and should hit theaters in a limited release as an indie film). It could be this film, and then Akiva is helping by shooting it. Still, doesn't seem like Andy was out with them for long enough to shoot a full film. And why is Chester in it and not behind the camera? Still seems like it's for #1 (MacGruber).

3) SNL: SNL is starting up, and we know that Andy's already thinking about and planning for the digital shorts (from the Megan Fox news). Although Chez has yet to appear in an SNL digital short, and they haven't needed mocap suits for an SNL digital short yet (but they've used green screens, such as Space Olympics, muppets, such as the fish in Like a Boss, and editing animations, such as Andy's head blasting off in Like a Boss). So this might not be for SNL because Chez hasn't been on SNL yet and they haven't done 3D animation on SNL (it costs a lot, typically). However, they could be breaking ground! We do know that Akiva directs the digital shorts, and it makes sense that he'd be directing this for SNL (but it also makes sense that he'd be a second unit director for Jorma on MacGruber).

4) Just a Chez vid: The third and least likely choice is that Chez just talked them into making this vid for his YT account. I'm sure the explosion animation was for his YouTube account, and this whole "explosion" bit might be just for his YouTube account, but Andy and Akiva wouldn't be there filming for just a YT vid like this and they wouldn't have Andy and Chez in mocap suits just for the vid.

So my overall guess/opinion is that this is for MacGruber (the location, costumes, and the fact that they're shooting) but the gag itself was just for Chez's channel. (They might not have even known where to put it when they shot it, and maybe Chez suggested his channel.)

The Lonely Island - The Pepper

I believe this was the first Lonely Island video. It certainly looks like it. Some of the jokes aren't quite there, but there are some good editing effects here too, like Akiva remembering the boxers.

Andy Samberg isn't in this one. I believe Andy was away at college. That would place this video in about 2002.

WARNING: Language and man butt (Chezz's I think). Plus it's mostly just gross.

Andy's facial expression is amazing!!!

Overall, this video is pretty funny that they are so awkward about sports, but it just isn't the same as Just 2 Guyz. The original seemed better because they seemed to have just met, being two friendless guys who became friends and started a party with just the two of them. That just seemed funnier than two guys who are awkward about sports.

Also, I enjoyed the jump cuts in Just 2 Guyz. This sequel doesn't use the jump cut effect. Instead it uses flash photography effects, which are much easier to do. I'm not sure if they didn't use the jump cuts because they also did them in Lazy Sunday and they didn't want people to think they were using Lazy Sunday effects or what. But Just 2 Guyz used jump cuts masterfully before Lazy Sunday, and I was hoping to see more of them in this video. No such luck.

Jump cuts are when the people seem to jump to new locations in the screen. It's done by keeping the camera still, moving around, and then editing out the sections where you're moving so it looks like you pop into new locations.

I noticed that they do use the camera effect once. The original just seemed funnier with Jorma saying stuff like "you get tossed."

Andy Samberg - Poops his pants (The Legend of Ander's Pants)

Okay, before Awesometown, Andy Samberg was commonly called "Ardy."

In this video, they spoof the Legend of Bagger Vance trailer with their own, "The Legend of Ander's Pants." It's all about Andy pooping himself.

WARNING: They show some poop on their hands and stuff. Also, there is a lot of crude language.

This is also where the shot comes from of Andy sticking his fingers in a girl's mouth.

Awesometown - Dudes Cut

"After FOX passed, The Dudes cut a new version of Awesometown in hopes of appealing to MTV or Comedy Central. Although those networks ultimately passed as well, this cut is more The Dudes' style and doesn't make them cringe as much. Contains nudity! TRT: 14 Minutes"

WARNING: There is some nudity in their IGTV "porno shots." Skip from 3:01-4:07. Apparently, the dudes thought it was funny to make fun of the sex in music videos by merely putting music on top of a porno. While it is funny, it's not funny that they left some nudity in the porno.

This is definitely funnier without the laugh track. I actually like the "YES" titles they throw in there too. Very similar to the "Realize your Dreams" they used in "Andy Punching People" on SNL.

- Chez at the production office, dancing next to the producers and dudes. This was the same gag they used in Hot Rod, with Chez dancing (he got better for the movie). This gag was also used by Tucker in the later TLI short, Tucker's Song.

- Castaways 4 (Best Beard on the Island)

- My Pants

- Dance of Hope (hilarious)


Overall: They mixed it up quite a bit and changed out most of the skits, keeping in Castaways, Just 2 Guyz, the Awesometown intros/titles, and not much else. Everything else they traded out, includng Bu, Glirk, and all those expensive stage shots they did for Fox. They may have had a better chance just taking some of the silliness out of the Fox version rather than going in the opposite direction and making it too edgy. Kudos for finishing strong with the Dance of Hope.
