So Jorma Taccone was hired to do a supporting actor bit on Lorne's "Up All Night" with Maya Rudolph. Jorma played this former lover of Maya from the past (1993). They shot a music video together to show a clip during the "Up All Night" show. Here's the full version of that music video:
1993 style! Jorm and Che made a music video for NBC's "Up All Night" featuring the one and only Maya Rudolph! The full episode airs tonight (9/28/11) and Jorm's in it! This is the extended cut for your butt!
Thanks to x-tina Smith for the scoop!

The Lonely Island's "Basically" - Jorma Taccone and Maya Rudolph on "Up All Night"

Jorma Taccone to play Maya Rudolph's ex-boyfriend in "Up All Night"
'Up All Night' scoop: 'SNL's' Jorma Taccone gives Maya Rudolph flashbacks

One of the masterminds of "Saturday Night Live's" digital shorts will be staying "Up All Night" this fall.
Jorma Taccone, one-third of the Lonely Island comedy team (along with Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer) that produces the digital shorts, will guest-star in an upcoming episode of NBC's new comedy, creator Emily Spivey tells Zap2it. He'll be playing an old boyfriend of Maya Rudolph's character.
"You're going to see flashbacks of them from the '90s," Spivey tells us. "They have a little song together and everything, and a music video."

"Up All Night" centers on new parents Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Chris (Will Arnett), who are trying to raise their baby while still keeping the trappings of their old life. Rudolph plays Ava, the host of a talk show Reagan produces.
Taccone is the second "Saturday Night Live" veteran Spivey (herself an ex-"SNL" writer) has recruited to guest-star on "Up All Night." Will Forte will also appear as a guy who's a little more at ease with his stay-at-home dad status than Chris is.
"Up All Night" premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 on NBC. Taccone's appearance will likely come sometime in October.

Will MacGruber make money on DVD?
Who knows? Maybe MacGruber will make some money on DVD. One way to find out...

"MacGruber" can diffuse bombs using his bare hands and everyday objects, but that didn't help it from being the biggest bomb at the box-office this summer. The comedy based on the "SNL"character is getting a second chance on Blu-ray and DVD this September.
"MacGruber" stretches the usually 30-second to 2-minute "SNL" skits to 99 minutes in the comedy which sees the title character, played by Will Forte, being called upon by the government after a decade-long hiatus to find a nuclear warhead stolen by his enemy, the inappropriately named Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer). The film also stars Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe.
The Blu-ray and DVD contains two versions of the movie: the original theatrical version, and an unrated version, which features never-before-seen footage removed to keep the film's R-rating, which it was awarded for strong crude and sexual content, violence, language and some nudity, so imagine.
Along with more "MacGruber" back into the film, it also contains a host of special features, including a commentary with director Jorma Taccone, Will Forte, and co-writer John Solomon, a deleted scene, and a gag reel. The Blu-ray features exclusive additional features like BD-Live internet features, pocketBlu interactivity through iPhone and iTouch accessories, and more.
"MacGruber" hits Blu-ray, DVD, digital download and On-Demand on September 7th.

MacGruber tanked in the Box Office
Domestic Total as of Jun. 9, 2010: $8,511,440
Production Budget: $10 million
Still, this is better than Will Forte's last effort, The Brothers Solomon (9/7/07), which made only $900,926.
But not quite as good as Andy Samberg's Hot Rod...
Which made $14,334,401.
So unfortunately The Lonely Island remains unbankable in movies.
So sad. =^(

Shrek's been doing some terrorist bombing:

So that was the Lonely Island's tweet (and they have a similar blog post). This basically means that Joni or Jorma wanted to comically downplay MacGruber's biggest film competition (sort of how Austin Powers 2 trailer masterfully told you to watch Star Wars), which is Shrek 4.
Kind of amusing...

What was the funniest moment on set?
“During the second sex scene, Will, because he’s having sex with a ghost, is humping air pushed up against a gravestone, banging his knees on the gravestone, and Lorne Michaels runs up and takes a picture of him from behind, giggling hysterically.” — Jorma Taccone

Sweet MacGruber poster
CBS Films and Universal Studios have sent over a high resolution version of the new MacGruber movie poster. MacGruber stars Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Powers Boothe, Maya Rudolph and Val Kilmer and it’s the feature film version of the Saturday Night Live skit. MacGruber screened at SXSW and I’ve heard from friends it’s very stupid but extremely funny. Sounds like my kind of movie.
MACGRUBER Synopsis and Info:
Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet. In 2010, Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live’s clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber.
In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job.
Assembling an elite team of experts-Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)-MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox. His crime scenes may get messy. But if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.
Release date: May 21, 2010

Genre: Action comedy
Cast: Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Powers Boothe, Maya Rudolph and Val Kilmer
Written by: Will Forte & John Solomon & Jorma Taccone

MacGruber is rated R

... you should know that MacGruber has just received its official rating of "R" from the MPAA for “strong, crude and sexual content, violence, language and some nudity.” We were shooting for "NC-17" but I guess the MPAA is a lot more liberal these days than they get credit for. So if you were expecting some "PG-13" fluff like "Taken" or "Bourne Ultimatum", you've got another thing coming... on MAY 21st!!!

MacGruber movie review
Thanks to Marie for the scoop.
This is a review of the pre-screening of the film. It doesn't give anything away about the plot. Enjoy!
==================================

When given the opportunity to see an early screening of MacGruber, I was wary that it would follow in the path of prior Saturday Night Live films. Most sketch concepts generally flourish when they’re just that - sketches. A full-length comedy falls into the trap of relying on the same old recycled jokes to the point where you not only loathe the film, but you retroactively dislike the sketches they were based on. You might not believe me when I tell you this, but there’s no doubt: MacGruber was amazing.
Like any action movie, MacGruber begins with the diabolical plan of an evil genius to acquire and detonate a nuclear warhead. MacGruber (Will Forte), having sworn off the life of an action hero, is approached by the U.S. government and informed of the plan of his arch enemy Dieter Von Cunth (Note: the “h” is virtually silent). MacGruber, with his badass mullet, is the only one with the know-how and experience (his achievements include “starting tight end for the University of El Paso”) to save the world, and accepts the challenge. It’s time for MacGruber “to go pound some Cunth.”
Forte, who plays MacGruber with a perfect mix of confidence and ignorance, portrays a character with more depth and personality than has ever been established in the short SNL sketches. In addition, the writing for Forte’s character is smart, quick, and witty, albeit sometimes asinine. MacGruber spends the movie driving around in his red Miata, completely embracing all that was 80’s pop culture. He doesn’t use guns, but he always manages to come through. “Classic MacGruber!”
15 seconds, MacGruber!
Unlike other comedies, MacGruber isn’t completely tongue-in-cheek. The characters surrounding MacGruber play their roles more seriously, resulting in outstanding rapport between the hero and his cohorts. Ryan Phillippe is excellent in the role of Special Agent Piper, a young rookie whose tendency to follow the rules clashes with MacGruber’s no-holds-barred attitude. In addition, Val Kilmer, as Dieter Von Cunth, manages to take MacGruber completely seriously and in one scene asks his henchmen why they didn’t capture MacGruber, to which they reply that they “didn’t think he was a threat. They actually thought he was mentally retarded
The second star of the film is the hilarious and talented Kristen Wiig, who, as usual, delivers the performance expected of a comedian on top of her game. Wiig plays MacGruber’s new love interest, the impressionable and naïve Vicki St. Elmo. Wiig, in her most substantial movie role to date, is the needed passivity to Forte’s aggressiveness. The three heroes come together perfectly, each adding a necessary ingredient to the delicious dish that is MacGruber.
5 seconds, MacGruber!
MacGruber is the best SNL film since Wayne’s World back in 1992. It manages to take the concept of the original sketch and infuse it with new life. It generally works at all times, and manages to combine physical comedy, witty banter, and awkward sex. If you enjoy a good comedy, go see this movie when it comes out next year. Trust me, this movie is…

Bill Hader says MacGruber will be a hard R
We remain as delighted as we are perplexed that cameras have actually started rolling on the MacGruber movie, even though precious little news of the SNL sketch movie spinoff has surfaced beyond Bill Hader and Andy Samberg, both chums and former co-stars of director/screenwriter Jorma Taccone, telling Empire that the script is “really, really funny.”

Today though, New York magazine’s entertainment site Vulture had a few interesting quotes from SNL man Hader, wherein he details that the script reads like a ‘hard-R’, which leaves it open to all sorts of naughty opportunities. Of course, to those who haven’t read it (and that’s most of the world), that would sound like just another hurdle on the nearly impossible track of filling this gleefully one-note recurring sketch out to feature length, but Hader remains convinced that the idea will work.
“There’s a very definitive bad guy,” he says – that’d be Val Kilmer as the dastardly Cunth, then (permission to snigger). “The thing that kind of blew my mind about it though, is that it's like a hard-R movie. I was like ‘This is fucking ugly, are you guys really gonna do this?’ And they’re like ‘Yup.’”
If you’re not familiar with MacGruber, he’s a spoof of MacGyver, played by Will Forte, who makes “life-saving inventions out of household materials,” or would if he weren’t distracted every single time by some petty... well, distraction. If that doesn’t sound particularly hilarious, it’s probably because each sketch hinges on terrific comic timing – try and source some of the sketches on the web.
This is, to us, a hugely positive sign, possibly indicating a total expansion of the concept in the same way that John Landis and Dan Aykroyd were allowed to do with the only other R-rated SNL spinoff movie, The Blues Brothers. We shall be keeping a very close and eager eye on this.
From:

=======================
Bill Hader and Andy Samberg have been talking about MacGruber while doing their press meetings for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
So have they only just read the script, or are Bill and Andy in the film?
Also, as Bill Hader says, this movie is disgusting and a hard R. That could be good news, because up until now the skits have relied on solid writing to be any good, since they're pretty much confined to MacGruber getting distracted and then exploding. It's hard to make it fresh with that limiting formula. However, Jorma and team have managed it well over the years.
Will and Kristen will be supported by Val Kilmer (the villain) and Ryan Phillippe. Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels are producing. Seth also produced Hot Rod, and this is his second producing gig.
There's no sign of Andy or Bill being involved. Innaj87 brought up a good point. Andy has mentioned in an interview that Akiva was down helping Jorma with preproduction. So even though Akiva isn't mentioned on IMDB, he is still involved somehow. And Andy will probably go join them as well (if he hasn't already).
So I'm hoping this movie is enjoyable and better than Stuart Smalley, Ladies Man, It's Pat, and Superstar.
What do you think?
Enjoy!

=======================
