Barkley has hosted twice before. First, on September 25, 1993, he hosted with Nivana as the musical guest.
Second, on January 9, 2010, he promoted his career change into becoming a sports announcer.
Now Charles Barkley is back (likely he was a pleasant variety from the other hosts, so they welcomed him back).

Date: January 14, 2012
This is Daniel's first appearance on SNL. Daniel is of course Harry Potter from the hit film series. I'm surprised he hasn't hosted until after the series.
Daniel's next movie he's promoting is Woman in Black, where he's a young lawyer who travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals. Looks like it's set in the 1800s.

The GQ&A: The Lonely Island
Okay, okay, the three wise men of viral-video comedy aren't actually releasing a Christmas album—they're just having a little fun in these photos. We chatted with the be-sweatered comedy trio about their special year, Michael Bolton, and their friendship.
Five years ago, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone (33, 33, and 34, respectively) resuscitated a comatose Saturday Night Live with three simple moves. (One, cut a hole in a box...) GQ spoke to the comedy trio about their roots, friendship with Weird Al, and what to throw on the ground, when it comes time to throw things to the ground. Or we just spoke to Akiva. Their voices all sound the same. It's impossible to tell.

GQ: It's going to be really hard for me to determine who's talking.
Jorma Taccone: We'll try to say our names before.
Andy Samberg: You'll know Kiv's baby when you hear her.
GQ: So, you guys have known each other since what, the seventh grade?
Jorma: Too long. This is Jorma. We met in junior high in Berkeley, California at Willard Junior High—I was in Spanish class with Kiv when we were 13 years old. How old were we, Kiv? 13?
Akiva Schaffer: Seventh grade, I was 11, 12?
Jorma: No, were we really? 12, I guess. 12. Holy *. And then we met Andy a year later, because we all went to the same junior high.
GQ: Do you remember exactly how you first became friends?
Jorma: I remember seeing Kiv in particular, because he had a Tony Hawk skater haircut, and I was pretty into that kind of thing.
Andy Samberg: I remember admiring them from afar. This is Andy.
GQ: That's pretty astounding, right? I mean, just most people's seventh grade friends turn out to work at the local gas station; you guys found your soulmates when you were 13.
Akiva: Yeah, we reflect on that often.
Jorma: We do.
Andy: We had other friends too, who might work at gas stations.
Jorma: That was Akiva.
Akiva: That was Andy.
Jorma: Oh man, this is going to be the worst.
GQ: How did the name Lonely Island come about?
Jorm: Kiv?
Akiva: So we were all living together in an apartment on Olympic Boulevard in LA, which is a very busy street. And Jorma, being the theater major, decided to bring home a VHS copy of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, but then it just sat there long enough that me and Andy were actually the ones that watched it, and of course it's a great movie: Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. But still, I wanted to still make fun of Jorm for being so theatrical, so I wrote like a one-act spoof play, I guess you'd call it? A Tennessee Williams-style one, where I was going to have Jorma have to refer to our home as an island in the sea of traffic—the lonely island—and be very dramatic about it. Then we started calling the apartment the Lonely Island when we were out, as in: "Want to go back to the Lonely Island?" And our first videos were all in the apartment, the little experimental videos that we were just kind of doing. So they were always set in the apartment, we named the videos the Lonely Island.
GQ: Nice. I really love Turtleneck & Chain. It's great.
Akiva: Like, as a style, or the album?
GQ: Both, I guess. The first song, "We're Back," has a lot of pe*is-not-working-right outposturing each other. And that kind of seems to be a common trope with you guys. Is there a reason?
Andy: Calling it a trope seems to give that joke more—
Akiva: More credence.
Andy: More credence than maybe it deserves.
GQ:Well there's "Ji* in My Pants" of course and "I Just Had Sex," which has a line about lasting only 30 seconds...
Akiva: Okay it's fair to say penile inadequacy is definitely a trend in our stuff, yeah.
GQ: Is that for any reason?
Jorma: We're pretty big into self-deprecation.
Andy: And self-mutilation, am I right, Jorm?
Jorma: Nail on the head, Andy.
Akiva: We're really good at sex. We might be the best ever.
Akiva: That was Andy talking.
Andy: No that was Akiva talking!
Jorma: Spread it around. Be sure to spread that around.
Akiva: I mean, except for the times when we're terrible. Then we're not good. So like, when it's on it's on, you know what I mean?
Jorma: Like Donkey Kong.
Andy: We set the expectations really low in our songs.
GQ: Did you write Jack Sparrow with Michael Bolton in mind?
Andy: He was definitely the first person we wanted for it, yes. We came up with the premise for the song and then I believe Kiv said that the perfect person to do the hook would be Michael Bolton. And then we were basically relentless and didn't sleep until we got him to do it.
GQ: How did you convince him?
Jorma: On the first call he said he wanted to do it, and then it took another handful of calls to actually—
Akiva: There were lyrics he was uncomfortable with.
Jorma: Yes.
Akiva: It was really our charming personalities that put him over the top, though.
Jorma: We broke bread.
GQ: Wait, what were the lyrics that he was uncomfortable with?
Andy: Uh, we can't say that.
Jorma: They were terrible.
GQ: Have you guys ever heard from anyone who was mad you parodied them?
Akiva: I don't think so.
Andy: No, I'm sure they just curse in private.
Jorma: I bet President Mahmoud probably wasn't too keen on his video.
Andy: Oh, yeah. Ahmadinejad, I can say on the record, was probably not psyched on that video.
Jorma: He keeps emailing and emailing.
Andy: His Twitter feed was going crazy that whole day.
Jorma: Yeah. Little does he know, we barely check our email.
Andy: "I thought we were cool!"
GQ: Have you ever met Weird Al?
Akiva: Absolutely.
Jorma: Yeah, we're in definite communication. He sent us a bunch of gear recently.
Akiva: I was emailing with Weird Al last night, no joke.
GQ: Really? About what?
Jorma: It was I, actually.
Akiva: They had a special on Comedy Central of him performing live—
Jorma: He didn't send it to me, Kiv. I'm looking at the Blu-ray now. Is it Comedy Central?
Akiva: Yes.
Jorma: The Al-pocalypse tour, right?
Andy: I don't have kids yet, but I'm pretty sure he's going to perform my future son's bris.

GQ: So, you guys have known each other since what, the seventh grade?
Jorma: Too long. This is Jorma. We met in junior high in Berkeley, California at Willard Junior High—I was in Spanish class with Kiv when we were 13 years old. How old were we, Kiv? 13?
Akiva Schaffer: Seventh grade, I was 11, 12?
Jorma: No, were we really? 12, I guess. 12. Holy *. And then we met Andy a year later, because we all went to the same junior high.
GQ: Do you remember exactly how you first became friends?
Jorma: I remember seeing Kiv in particular, because he had a Tony Hawk skater haircut, and I was pretty into that kind of thing.
Andy Samberg: I remember admiring them from afar. This is Andy.
GQ: That's pretty astounding, right? I mean, just most people's seventh grade friends turn out to work at the local gas station; you guys found your soulmates when you were 13.
Akiva: Yeah, we reflect on that often.
Jorma: We do.
Andy: We had other friends too, who might work at gas stations.
Jorma: That was Akiva.
Akiva: That was Andy.
Jorma: Oh man, this is going to be the worst.
GQ: How did the name Lonely Island come about?
Jorm: Kiv?
Akiva: So we were all living together in an apartment on Olympic Boulevard in LA, which is a very busy street. And Jorma, being the theater major, decided to bring home a VHS copy of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, but then it just sat there long enough that me and Andy were actually the ones that watched it, and of course it's a great movie: Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. But still, I wanted to still make fun of Jorm for being so theatrical, so I wrote like a one-act spoof play, I guess you'd call it? A Tennessee Williams-style one, where I was going to have Jorma have to refer to our home as an island in the sea of traffic—the lonely island—and be very dramatic about it. Then we started calling the apartment the Lonely Island when we were out, as in: "Want to go back to the Lonely Island?" And our first videos were all in the apartment, the little experimental videos that we were just kind of doing. So they were always set in the apartment, we named the videos the Lonely Island.
GQ: Nice. I really love Turtleneck & Chain. It's great.
Akiva: Like, as a style, or the album?
GQ: Both, I guess. The first song, "We're Back," has a lot of pe*is-not-working-right outposturing each other. And that kind of seems to be a common trope with you guys. Is there a reason?
Andy: Calling it a trope seems to give that joke more—
Akiva: More credence.
Andy: More credence than maybe it deserves.
GQ:Well there's "Ji* in My Pants" of course and "I Just Had Sex," which has a line about lasting only 30 seconds...
Akiva: Okay it's fair to say penile inadequacy is definitely a trend in our stuff, yeah.
GQ: Is that for any reason?
Jorma: We're pretty big into self-deprecation.
Andy: And self-mutilation, am I right, Jorm?
Jorma: Nail on the head, Andy.
Akiva: We're really good at sex. We might be the best ever.
Akiva: That was Andy talking.
Andy: No that was Akiva talking!
Jorma: Spread it around. Be sure to spread that around.
Akiva: I mean, except for the times when we're terrible. Then we're not good. So like, when it's on it's on, you know what I mean?
Jorma: Like Donkey Kong.
Andy: We set the expectations really low in our songs.
GQ: Did you write Jack Sparrow with Michael Bolton in mind?
Andy: He was definitely the first person we wanted for it, yes. We came up with the premise for the song and then I believe Kiv said that the perfect person to do the hook would be Michael Bolton. And then we were basically relentless and didn't sleep until we got him to do it.
GQ: How did you convince him?
Jorma: On the first call he said he wanted to do it, and then it took another handful of calls to actually—
Akiva: There were lyrics he was uncomfortable with.
Jorma: Yes.
Akiva: It was really our charming personalities that put him over the top, though.
Jorma: We broke bread.
GQ: Wait, what were the lyrics that he was uncomfortable with?
Andy: Uh, we can't say that.
Jorma: They were terrible.
GQ: Have you guys ever heard from anyone who was mad you parodied them?
Akiva: I don't think so.
Andy: No, I'm sure they just curse in private.
Jorma: I bet President Mahmoud probably wasn't too keen on his video.
Andy: Oh, yeah. Ahmadinejad, I can say on the record, was probably not psyched on that video.
Jorma: He keeps emailing and emailing.
Andy: His Twitter feed was going crazy that whole day.
Jorma: Yeah. Little does he know, we barely check our email.
Andy: "I thought we were cool!"
GQ: Have you ever met Weird Al?
Akiva: Absolutely.
Jorma: Yeah, we're in definite communication. He sent us a bunch of gear recently.
Akiva: I was emailing with Weird Al last night, no joke.
GQ: Really? About what?
Jorma: It was I, actually.
Akiva: They had a special on Comedy Central of him performing live—
Jorma: He didn't send it to me, Kiv. I'm looking at the Blu-ray now. Is it Comedy Central?
Akiva: Yes.
Jorma: The Al-pocalypse tour, right?
Andy: I don't have kids yet, but I'm pretty sure he's going to perform my future son's bris.

Hilarious! Loved all these cameos and characters.
But I can't help but think that this was a waste of teaming up Andy Samberg and Katy Perry. They have both done amazing things, and together... well I expected more than something a little silly and weird like this. It's almost like Jorma or Andy wrote it without thinking about how to fully leverage Andy + Katy together.
Who was Abraham Lincoln? Anyone know? Caesar also looks familiar.

Just watched SNL
I'm on the east coast tonight, so I get SNL a few hours earlier.
It was a little disappointing. Andy and Katie were in a musical digital short, but it wasn't a classic. It was a strange song about being best friends and then it just keeps getting weirder.
Oh, well, let's see if Jimmy Fallon and Andy can pump out a musical digital short classic next week!
This week had guest appearances from Darrell Hammond, Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, and Val Kilmer. That was pretty sweet. Alec had the best appearance, where he cleverly covered up hos own mishap that got him in the news (Alec pretended to be a piolot who apologizes to Alec for how he was treated). It's a clever way to subdue bad press for Alec.
Andy wasn't really able to shine this week, but Kristen Wiig had a few chances, especially with her new flirting character. More tomorrow!

We want the Jimmy Fallon SNL episode to have John Goodman and the Don Pardo 9000!
We've said it before, but I've noticed that when you title a blog after a statement and make that your focus, more people are likely to notice it and listen to you. So what's our statement?
During this episode
We want John Goodman to pretend to be a cast member and we want the show announced by Don Pardo 9000!
So those are our requests / polite demands. =^)
Confused why? Well...
Jimmy Fallon successfully prophesied that he would host SNL in December 2011 (he did so in December, 1998) -- Jimmy's on at 2:55:

And as you can see, the gag of including John Goodman on the staff would be a hilarious inside joke (and good for a lot of media press), as would including the Don Pardo 9000. Of course, they could go all the way and get actors to play cast members Drew Adams, Michael Butler, Arianna Cleo, and Kevin Wallarski... but just including John Goodman and the Don Pardo 9000 would probably be enough to sell the joke.
John Goodman was truly the ghost of SNL hosts present because that season (24, 98-99) he cameo'd as Linda Tripp on Sep 26 (Cameron Diaz hosted), Nathan Barnett on Nov 14 (Joan Allen hosted), Tripp on Nov 21 (Jennifer Love Hewitt hosted), and Tripp on May 8 (Cuba Gooding Jr. hosted). He had 6 cameos total that season, and Goodman hosted on April 10 (99) that same season (so 7 appearances that season). And he hosted consequetively in seasons 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 (this 98 season), 25, and 26 (hosting 12 times, total). So that sets the context as to why he was the ghost of SNL hosts present.
John Goodman had 21 total appearances from 89-03, which is more than any other guest during that time period. However, Steve Martin had 24 total appearances (15 hosting), and Alec Baldwin has had 22 total appearances (16 hosting). So John Goodman is third both in total appearances (21) and hosting (12).

So... Jimmy Fallon announced that he's going to host the December 17 episode of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Michael Buble. It marks Fallon's first time hosting since he left the show in 2004, but fans shouldn't be too surprised to see him back in Studio 8H — not only has he done cameos on the show here and there, but back in 1998, SNL itself announced he'd host right around then. As you can see in the video, Alec Baldwin's monologue from a season 24 episode predicts exactly this: That Jimmy Fallon, as the host of Christmas future in this Christmas Carol riff, will host on December 12, 2011. Most people remember this episode for its Schwetty Balls, but perhaps its prescience will become its new calling card!
That's right! Jimmy Fallon was only 5 days off! (What's the matter, they didn't do their calendar math correctly and pick a date that lands on a Saturday, or did they think it was going to move to Monday and be called MNL instead?)
They obviously weren't thinking (or caring) about getting the date right. They just picked the same date as that episode that Baldwin was hosting (which was on December 12th, 1998).
I actually remember watching this episode back in 98. At this point in time, Jimmy was in his first year on the show (only his third month), he was a featured cast member, and a total noob to the show. So at the time I was skeptical if he would be popular in 2011. But he pulled it off!
However, I was excited about him at that point in time, because of his song during the October 4th episode...
These are the SNL bits he previously had done (at that point in time):
1. September 26, 1998 (Cameron Diaz hosted)
- He played Gilbert Gottfried in a Hollywood Squares bit; I wonder if Fallon's Gottfried is as good as Taran Killam's sweet portrayal
2. October 3, 1998 (Kelsey Grammer hosted)
- Bit roles in a commercial and a Mr. Peepers sketch
3. October 17, 1998 (Lucy Lawless hosted)
- 5 bit roles, including a Steven Tyler impression in a group sketch.
4. October 24th, 1998 (Ben Stiller hosted)
- Adam Sandler on Celebrity Jeopardy (this was memorable and a key bit that got Jimmy on SNL)
- A Jimmy Fallon song on Weekend Update (this was when I really noticed Jimmy and thought he was going further than he ended up going)
5. November 7, 1998 (David Spade hosted)
- Solid Howard Stern and Leonardo DiCaprio impressions in group skits. Actually the Leo impression was a voice during the legendary Kiwi meets Mango sketch (classic).
6. November 14, 1998 (Joan Allen hosted)
- 2 bit roles and solid Marilyn Manson and French Steweart impressions in group sketches.
- He really sold his Jerry Seinfeld impression in Tarmac Talk. So this was noticeable and impressive.
7. November 21, 1998 (Jennifer Love Hewitt hosted)
- 2 bit roles and a Michael Stripe impression in a Celine Dion sketch.
8. December 5, 1998 (Vince Vaughn hosted)
- A hilarious (but brief) Richard Simmons impression in the cold open.
- Lead in "Married Guys" with Will and Vince
- Ghost of John Lennon
- 2 more bit roles.
And then that brings us to the Baldwin episode on 12/12/98.
So while Fallon was proving himself by filling in his impressions (more often than Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam are today, but probably not as well as they are, because the only impressions Fallon had gotten as the center of a bit were his Seinfeld and Lennon), it was relly just his guitar song he did on October 24th where you started to wonder if he was the next Adam Sandler (and he's not, if you're wondering).
So taking all that into consideration, to have Jimmy stand up and say he'd be a hit in 13 years, it was a little gutsy on everybody's part (including the producers). It was funny enough to do anyway, but I remember thinking, "We'll see. If you keep doing song like that one you did and maybe pull out some hit characters like the awesome ones that were hits at the time... Spartans, Dog Show, Goth Talk, Mr. Peepers, Clinton, Celebrity Jeopardy, The View, Ladies Man, Roxbury Guys, Delicious Dish, Antonio Banderas Ah Yes Show, Judge Judy, Culps, Mango, Martha Stewart Living, Harry Caray, Celine Dion, Mary Katherine Gallagher, and Pimp Chat." My personal opinion is that the only bits he had that were worthy of those hits that his teammates had above were Jeffrey's that he did with Ferrell and Sanz and his guitar bits on Weekend Update. Other than those, I don't think he had anything worthy. And I think his movie career echoed that well.
(But to be fair, Shannon, Gasteyer, Oteri, Kattan, and Meadows also never had hit film careers, even though they were amazing on SNL; it takes a unique person like Ferrell or Wiig to transition from SNL to a hit film career... or Meyers, Murphy, Chase, Murray, Sandler, etc.)
That said, I think Fallon could have found a niche to be popular by being on a sitcom (maybe) or by hosting a Today Show, which is what he did when he accidentally took over Conan's spot (it was on purpose, but it was done with Conan's blessing at the time). And the only reason why Fallon is hosting is because he now has a hit show (Late Night). Just in time to host when he predicted (which is obviously the reason why they picked that date for him).
Now it seems like I'm ragging on Fallon, but Andy's in the same bucket that Fallon was in on SNL. Maybe Andy's in a better bucket because his shorts are so popular, but Andy doesn't really have any awesome skits like the ones I listed above (only a small handful exist, and Andy's digital shorts are definitely among the hits).

So... Jimmy Fallon announced that he's going to host the December 17 episode of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Michael Buble. It marks Fallon's first time hosting since he left the show in 2004, but fans shouldn't be too surprised to see him back in Studio 8H — not only has he done cameos on the show here and there, but back in 1998, SNL itself announced he'd host right around then. As you can see in the video, Alec Baldwin's monologue from a season 24 episode predicts exactly this: That Jimmy Fallon, as the host of Christmas future in this Christmas Carol riff, will host on December 12, 2011. Most people remember this episode for its Schwetty Balls, but perhaps its prescience will become its new calling card!
That's right! Jimmy Fallon was only 5 days off! (What's the matter, they didn't do their calendar math correctly and pick a date that lands on a Saturday, or did they think it was going to move to Monday and be called MNL instead?)
They obviously weren't thinking (or caring) about getting the date right. They just picked the same date as that episode that Baldwin was hosting (which was on December 12th, 1998).
I actually remember watching this episode back in 98. At this point in time, Jimmy was in his first year on the show (only his third month), he was a featured cast member, and a total noob to the show. So at the time I was skeptical if he would be popular in 2011. But he pulled it off!
However, I was excited about him at that point in time, because of his song during the October 4th episode...
These are the SNL bits he previously had done (at that point in time):
1. September 26, 1998 (Cameron Diaz hosted)
- He played Gilbert Gottfried in a Hollywood Squares bit; I wonder if Fallon's Gottfried is as good as Taran Killam's sweet portrayal
2. October 3, 1998 (Kelsey Grammer hosted)
- Bit roles in a commercial and a Mr. Peepers sketch
3. October 17, 1998 (Lucy Lawless hosted)
- 5 bit roles, including a Steven Tyler impression in a group sketch.
4. October 24th, 1998 (Ben Stiller hosted)
- Adam Sandler on Celebrity Jeopardy (this was memorable and a key bit that got Jimmy on SNL)
- A Jimmy Fallon song on Weekend Update (this was when I really noticed Jimmy and thought he was going further than he ended up going)
5. November 7, 1998 (David Spade hosted)
- Solid Howard Stern and Leonardo DiCaprio impressions in group skits. Actually the Leo impression was a voice during the legendary Kiwi meets Mango sketch (classic).
6. November 14, 1998 (Joan Allen hosted)
- 2 bit roles and solid Marilyn Manson and French Steweart impressions in group sketches.
- He really sold his Jerry Seinfeld impression in Tarmac Talk. So this was noticeable and impressive.
7. November 21, 1998 (Jennifer Love Hewitt hosted)
- 2 bit roles and a Michael Stripe impression in a Celine Dion sketch.
8. December 5, 1998 (Vince Vaughn hosted)
- A hilarious (but brief) Richard Simmons impression in the cold open.
- Lead in "Married Guys" with Will and Vince
- Ghost of John Lennon
- 2 more bit roles.
And then that brings us to the Baldwin episode on 12/12/98.
So while Fallon was proving himself by filling in his impressions (more often than Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam are today, but probably not as well as they are, because the only impressions Fallon had gotten as the center of a bit were his Seinfeld and Lennon), it was relly just his guitar song he did on October 24th where you started to wonder if he was the next Adam Sandler (and he's not, if you're wondering).
So taking all that into consideration, to have Jimmy stand up and say he'd be a hit in 13 years, it was a little gutsy on everybody's part (including the producers). It was funny enough to do anyway, but I remember thinking, "We'll see. If you keep doing song like that one you did and maybe pull out some hit characters like the awesome ones that were hits at the time... Spartans, Dog Show, Goth Talk, Mr. Peepers, Clinton, Celebrity Jeopardy, The View, Ladies Man, Roxbury Guys, Delicious Dish, Antonio Banderas Ah Yes Show, Judge Judy, Culps, Mango, Martha Stewart Living, Harry Caray, Celine Dion, Mary Katherine Gallagher, and Pimp Chat." My personal opinion is that the only bits he had that were worthy of those hits that his teammates had above were Jeffrey's that he did with Ferrell and Sanz and his guitar bits on Weekend Update. Other than those, I don't think he had anything worthy. And I think his movie career echoed that well.
(But to be fair, Shannon, Gasteyer, Oteri, Kattan, and Meadows also never had hit film careers, even though they were amazing on SNL; it takes a unique person like Ferrell or Wiig to transition from SNL to a hit film career... or Meyers, Murphy, Chase, Murray, Sandler, etc.)
That said, I think Fallon could have found a niche to be popular by being on a sitcom (maybe) or by hosting a Today Show, which is what he did when he accidentally took over Conan's spot (it was on purpose, but it was done with Conan's blessing at the time). And the only reason why Fallon is hosting is because he now has a hit show (Late Night). Just in time to host when he predicted (which is obviously the reason why they picked that date for him).
Now it seems like I'm ragging on Fallon, but Andy's in the same bucket that Fallon was in on SNL. Maybe Andy's in a better bucket because his shorts are so popular, but Andy doesn't really have any awesome skits like the ones I listed above (only a small handful exist, and Andy's digital shorts are definitely among the hits).

Andy Samberg is the guy who always loses the girl! Take a look at that guy sitting behind Andy and to our left of Andy. That guy completely loses it on Andy's last line there.
Unfortunately Andy was only in two skits this week (Batman and this monologue). Andy isn't really writing much for himself nowadays (except the digital shorts), so this usually just means the writers weren't thinking about Andy (and the other cast pitched in their bits).
Do you think Andy and the writers should try to write more material for Andy or give the other players a shot (like they did in this episode)?

Andy Samberg gets his second Grammy Nomination!
In review, Andy Samberg has 1 Emmy, 6 Emmy noms, and now 2 Grammy noms!

The Lonely Island's "Turtleneck and Chain" was nominated for Best Comedy Album in the 2012 GRAMMYs! The other nominees in their category are:
Weird Al Yankovic for "Alpocalypse"
Patton Oswalt for "Finest Hour"
Louis C.K. for "Hilarious"
Kathy Griffin for "50 & Not Pregnant"
So while The Dudes will be squaring off against some of the funniest gentlemen and gentle-ladies in comedy, the show isn't until February 12, 2012 — the year the world ends.

Andy has only had one musical digital short this season, so everyone is hoping he'll bust another one out. However, I'm hoping that he'll at least have one amazing musical digital short for us with Jimmy Fallon. The potential is huge.

Akiva Schaffer (born December 1, 1977) is an American writer for Saturday Night Live, a film director, songwriter, and a member of The Lonely Island, a sketch-comedy troupe that first found success on the Internet, which includes SNL cast member Andy Samberg and SNL writer Jorma Taccone. He majored in film at University of California, Santa Cruz.
