Andy Samberg Wanted Susan Boyle for MTV Movie Awards

The toughest get in showbiz these days? Susan Boyle.

While MTV has secured such big-names as Denzel Washington, Kiefer Sutherland and, uh, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog for Sunday's Movie Awards, it failed in its quest to lock in the Britain's Got Talent singing sensation.



"Yeah, we tried. I wanted her here," host Andy Samberg tells E! Online. "But, you know, they've got a pretty strict contract over there."

Not to mention a finale to hold. Boyle, who's reportedly cracking under the pressure of the limelight, will sing for the Talent title on Saturday. And if Samberg sees the performance, he may be reduced to tears... again.

"I love Susan Boyle. I came home pretty intoxicated one night and discovered the 'I Dreamed a Dream' clip and watched it, like, seven times in a row and just bawled," the Saturday Night Live funnyman says. "Which I think is probably more indicative of the fact that I'm a little stressed-out and I'm not acknowledging it. ... But it was a joyful cry. It wasn't, like, upset. For some reason, the combination of her voice and that song and the super over-the-top editing of that show really, really struck a chord with me."

Jorma Taccone - Scripted the MacGruber movie

Tangent... So a season of SNL just ended, and you have to ask...

Is anyone else leaving SNL? This last year, Amy Poehler left and four new people joined, Casey Wilson (Casey joined in late 2008), Bobby Moynihan, Abby Elliott (former castmember Chris Elliott's daughter), and Michaela Watkins.

Why would Will Forte leave? Who knows, but he has been on SNL for 7 years, he's been doing more movies and other TV lately, he isn't a vital player anymore, and NBC has been posting Falconer vids lately, probably to promote the coming MacGruber movie.

We'll see who stays for the next season of SNL. Who do you think is the next to go?

Regardless, Will Forte's starring role in MacGruber might not be enough of a reason to leave SNL.

MacGruber: The Movie is Really Happening!

We’ve heard rumors of this, but tonight SNL star Will Forte confirmed that not only is a movie version of his popular “MacGruber” sketch happening, he’s already finished writing it.

Forte appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, introed with a MacGruber clip and played on stage to the tune of the MacGruber theme song. Fallon wasted no time in asking whether there’d be a MacGruber movie and Forte confirmed, “John Solomon, Jorma Taccone, and I just finished writing it. We’re gonna make it in Albuquerque. It’s me and Kirsten Wiig and cast to be determined.”

So this means bad hair and plenty of explosions right? Maybe not. Forte says “It’s maybe a little different than people are thinking.”

There was a time, back in SNL’s 90s golden age, when they cranked out movies based on popular characters at a ridiculous pace. Sometimes it worked and we got Wayne’s World, most of the time it didn’t, and we got Stuart Saves His Family. But it’s been more than ten years since we’ve had a real Saturday Night Live movie. Now that SNL is suddenly relevant again, it looks like Lorne Michaels has the big screen bug... again.

In case you’ve missed out on the genius that is MacGruber, I’ve include a few of his best moments embedded below. It’s hilarious as a short sketch but a MacGuyver parody doesn’t really seem like something that lends itself to a feature length movie, and besides, doesn’t MacGruber stop being funny when Will Forte fails to kill himself in the first sixty seconds? For MacGruber to work, Will Forte must die, and die fast.
