YOU WERE RECENTLY IN CHICAGO AND L.A. SCOUTING TALENT FOR THE SHOW. CAN WE EXPECT MORE STAFF CHANGES THIS YEAR?
Lorne Michaels: Yes. Kristen (Wiig) and I saw some shows at Second City and the Groundlings in L.A. We're also holding auditions soon in New York. We're always in the process of putting together the strongest possible cast.

Well we all know I'm trying out after high school. I hope I get on when I audition. I'M SO JEALOUS OF PEOPLE WHO GET ON!
is there any video of you doing stand up on youtube that we could check out? I'd love to see what you can do :)
Faith,
Anony has a good point. Auditions are actually incredibly difficult to get. Usually you have to be a stand up comedian on TV (which means at least a year of standup before that), or you have to be established at an improv group like Dan Aykroyd and Kristen Wiig were (Dan was amazing at improv).

or you could become a viral video sensation with your stand up comedy :P
First of all you cant just audition. You actually have to be funny. I doubt you'll ever be on SNL.
PLEASE PLEASE FIRE JENNY SLATE AND NASIM PEDRAD
get people that are actually funny!!!!!!!!!!

That hasn't happened for SNL yet, since SNL is all about performing in front of a live audience. And videos aren't in front of audiences.
For example, Andy is best known for his online shorts before SNL, but the truth is that he was a successful standup comedian for a year, including getting onto Comedy Central doing a standup act on television, and he got several small gigs performing for MTV and Comedy Central and some writing gigs... all before he got an SNL audition.
