To show that I was the first to do this impression. BradyMatthewscomedy on myspace will show it.

Check out his Mark Wahlberg impression!!! He nails it! Is it even better than Andy Samberg's impression?

Andy Samberg - Is Speaker Pelosi's backup dancer (Obama Show)

Obama Address

Sen. Obama plays it safe and musical...

We were all a little curious how Obama was going to fill an hour-long special, seeing how he never actually says anything. So SNL answers the question by having him entertain you instead. Nice. =^)

Bill Clinton = Awesome!!!

Andy Samberg does backup to Speaker Pelosi. Maya Rudolph guest stars.

Andy is also pretty funny here. Is that Bobby Moynihan? He needs to pull that character out more! Andy and Bobby look hilarious here. They should turn those characters into a skit!!!

Enjoy!

We're just expressing our love for Andy Samberg in a random hotel room. Hopefully Andy sees this and realizes that we would love to meet him. He pretty much rocks our worlds.

Well, Andy Samberg, these two lovely ladies would love to meet you. What else is new, right?

Andy Samberg - Is Rasta Man (Ras Trent)

Digital Short: Rasta Man

A Rastafarian melody for the Quad.

Andy! Andy! Andy! Gotta love the gag where he passes the black guys.

Wow! Andy managed to find a lot of interesting rasta terms for this one.

Andy needs to go get singing lessons. He's great most of the time, but he goes for the high notes in stuff like this and Best Look in the World and reveals his weaknesses. He needs to improve if he's going to keep doing these. That said, when he does these songs with musicians, then seems like the musicians produce him better.

Andy also needs a stronger song for this season. What with this one and Space Olympics, he hasn't found his Iran So Far, Junk in a Box, Young Chuck Norris, or Narnia Rap for this season yet. Keep looking Andy! You'll find it!

Surround yourself with the SNL writers and with your guests to see if you can find the winning idea!

Here's a song idea for Andy! Dress up like Britney Spears in catholic school girls clothes (her original music video) and do a girl pop parody. Hahahahaha!!!

Everyone, what did you think about this skit? What do you think Andy's next hit song could be?

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - Is a schoolboy who watches Biden implode (Road to Whitehouse)

Road to the White House

Sen. Joe Biden and Rep. Jack Murtha say crazy things in Johnstown, PA

Sudeikis' Biden and Hammond's Murtha aren't funny here. The previous Biden gag of repeating himself about how great and horrible that McCain is was pretty funny. The gag of predicting the future here loses steam very quickly.

Andy is in the background! He makes a good schoolboy! Here's a song idea for Andy! Dress up like Britney Spears in catholic school girls clothes (her original music video) and do a girl pop parody. Hahahahaha!!!

Hot Rod Music Video - Super Funny (yeah I said super..)

Andy Samberg is Rod Kimble, a lovable loser who is, without a doubt, the worlds worst stuntman and probably the only one that performs on a Moped. He does have a group of loyal friends who serve as his crew and a possible romance with girl-next-door, Denise (Fisher). When Rods hated step-fathers life is dependant on an expensive transplant, Kimble wants to perform the ultimate stunt to raise the money to save his life, just so he can have yet another chance (he has already had many)to beat the tough old guy (Ian McShane) in a fight and earn his respect. Its all nonsense, but some of the jokes work. Sadly, you can find Oscar winner, Sissy Spacek, in a small role as Rods mother. Hard to believe. I hope it was a good payday.

Andy Samberg - Pukes on people!!! (Jam the Vote!)

Update: Andy "Jams the Vote"

Andy hits the street to "Jam the Vote"

Hahahahahahaha!!! This is so funny! Andy does a good job humiliating himself with puke!

Sweet! It's like a follow up to Andy Walking, a digital short that Andy Samberg did in his first season!

Andy! Andy! Andy!

Hey, there's a return of Jorma to the digital short! We've missed you Jorma! He was holding the boom mic and got puked on by Andy Samberg! I wish I got puked on by Andy Samberg!!!

Update Thursday - 10/23/08

Updated: Added full episode.

--------------------

Here's the full episode:

20.5 minutes of goodness.

Update Thursday: Bush Endorsement

Pres. Bush endorses McCain and Palin

Will Ferrell returns as President George W. Bush!!! Hilarious! It's great to see so much talent together like this! Darrell and Will worked together (Darrell's been around forever), and Tina had some overlap with Will, so it's like a nice reunion going on, with Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis contributing. Great stuff!!

Come on SNL, this is too good. You need to keep the Thursdays going! You can always find more political and news material to fill up a half hour Thursday show and still have some of it for Saturday nights (along with all the other Saturday stuff). Do it!!! Do it now!!!!

Update: Fred's Map/Fix It!

Fred shows off his interactive map and Oscar Rogers still wants someone to FIX IT!

Wow! Fred was hilarious!!! I certainly hope that SNL didn't pay $150,000 for the equipment and software. It looks like Perspective Pixel, the team behind CNN's equipment, provided this. And Kenan was once again, not so funny. He hasn't changed much from All That.

Update: Andy "Jams the Vote"

Andy hits the street to "Jam the Vote"

Sweet! It's like a follow up to Andy Walking, a digital short that Andy Samberg did in his first season!

Remake of Andy Samberg Popping Into Frame: TJ Popping into Frame

This is a parody of Andy Samberg's SNL digital video, "Andy Popping into Frame." Follow TJ as he "Pops up" around the University of Northern Iowa's Campus.

I'd call these "remakes" rather than parodies as they are more of continuing the existing gags rather than making fun of it.

Andy Samberg - Is a back-up Eskimo (Sarah Palin Rap)

Weekend Update with Amy Poehler & Seth Meyers

Amy Poehler takes over a Sarah Palin rap when the real Sarah Palin decides it would be a bad political move to perform it herself.

Amy steps in for Gov. Palin

Hahahahaha!!! I can't watch enough of that!

Alright, you know that The Lonely Island wrote that and tried to get Sarah Palin to perform it, and then Amy said she'd do it, so they just added all that into the skit. You can tell Jorma made the beat and the dudes wrote it. The lyrics have similarities to the Natalie Portman rap, and the dancing Andy Samberg in the background, "Eskimoes!" (as an Eskimo rather than a Viking) is similar. Plus Natalie Portman did the glock thing as well.

Also, Andy Samberg said that his original intention with the Narnia Rap was to integrate a rap with Chris Parnell into the Weekend Update (similar to how Chris had done in the past). So this is the first rap he and The Lonely Island tied into the Weekend Update.

Palin wisely let the comedians do the comedy and instead showed up and enjoyed the comedy.

And, the republican party rose in polls this week while the democratic party dropped a bit. Could it be that Palin's appearance and McCain's appearance on Letterman this week are helping show that these two people are real and have a sense of humor?

LYRICS:

123

My name is Sarah Palin, you all know me,
Vice prezzy nominee of the GOP.

Gunna need your vote in the election.
Can I get a What What from the senior section?

McCain got experience. McCain got style.
Don't let him freak you out when he tries to smile.

That smile be creepy, but when I'm VP,
All the leaders in the world gunna finally meet me.

How's it go, eskimo?
(Andy and Fred: Eskimo!)
Tell me, tell me what you know, eskimo.
(Eskimo!)
How you feel, eskimo?
(Ice cold!)
Tell me, tell me what you feel, eskimo.
(Super cold!)

I'm defending my right, cuz tonight I'm a preacher.(?)
I've got a bookish look, and you're hot for teacher.

Tom looking fine on his snow machine,
So hot for each other, need a go between.

In our villa, we just chill, baby chiller,(?)
And when I see oil, let's drill, baby driller!
(Drill baby driller!)

My country, tis of thee,
From my porch I can see,
Russia and such!

All the mavericks in the house put your hands up!
All the mavericks in the house put your hands up!
All the plumbers in the house pull your pants up!
All the plumbers in the house pull your pants up!

When I say Obama, you say Ayers.
Obama!
(Ayers!)
Obama!
(Ayers!)
Obama!
(Ayers!)

I built me a bridge; it ain't goin nowhere!(?)
(Oooooh!!!)

McCain and Palin gunna put the nail in... the coffin,
Of the media elite.
(She likes red meat!)

Shoot a mother-humpin moose eight days of the week!
(Bam! Bam! Bam!)

Now you're dead! Now you're dead, cuz I'm an animal!
And I'm bigger than you!

Over the shotgun, rocking the pub!
Everybody, party; we're going on a hunt!

Lalalalalalalaaa!
(Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!)

Yo, I'm Palin; I'm out!!!

Wow! So much is happening here!

Governor Palin actually makes a reference to our idea, which was for her to do a 30 Rock sketch! I don't know why they didn't do that! That would have been even funnier than this! This was the more obvious route to go down, but the 30 Rock skit would have been even more biting and hilarious! But, anyway, whatever the reason, they didn't go that route.

Governor Palin, come back and do the 30 Rock skit!!! Please!!!

There is a funny dynamic with the backstage appearances of Alec, Governor Palin, Lorne, and Mark Wahlberg. They also set up the skit of Mark Wahlberg confronting Andy Samberg.

Overall thoughts:

Wow, what a show! Tons of guest appearances in this show! We did see some Andy Samberg, and I know Andy and the Lonely Island were the driving forces behind the Palin Rap.

But I was hoping to get a good digital short! Andy Samberg did promise another Laser Cats this season, and I'm waiting for him to pull out another song that will help reinvent him this season, like Narnia Rap (Natalie Portman Rap, Young Chuck Norris), Junk in a Box, and Iran So Far.

I want a sequel to Extreme Activities Competition. Check out our ideas here:

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2008/10/what-we-think-andy-samberg-should-do.html

And I want him to do another impression of Mark Wahlberg! Come on Andy, after all the buzz that skit is causing (partially in thanks to Mark Wahlberg's reactions), it's now your most popular impression!!!!

Plus I still want Governor Palin to come back and do that 30 Rock skit we've been wanting her to do for awhile! At least she mentioned it this episode, but mentioning it isn't good enough! She's the one who said she wanted to do it (even if it was a written line), so she should be allowed to do it!!!

Enjoy, everyone! Stop on by for more Andy Samberg and SNL goodness!!!

Andy Samberg - Gets threatened by Mark Wahlberg (Mark Talks to Andy)

Mark Wahlberg Backstage

Mark Wahlberg talks to Andy...

So Mark Wahlberg's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel was a setup for this skit. I'm not sure who instigated this, but it certainly seemed that Mark's attitude had changed from previous interviews of "It wasn't funny" to "I'm going to kill Andy Samberg."

Check out Mark Wahlberg on the Jimmy Kimmel show:

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2008/10/mark-wahlberg-threatens-andy-samberg.html

My guess is that Marci Kline thought of it (or someone like Andy or the Lonely Island dudes mentioned the idea to Marci Kline), and then she called up Mark Wahlberg and sold it to him. I think she then handed it over to the SNL writers who basically wrote a very SNLy skit where Mark denounced the impression whilst re-enacting the impression. And then, Andy probably threw in his gags of his fear of Mark Wahlberg.

This is cute and mostly a solid publicity stunt for Mark Wahlberg, Andy Samberg, and SNL in general. However, this is not nearly as funny as the skit itself Andy did two weeks ago that caused this contravery. Check it out...

Andy Samberg is Mark Wahlberg Talking to Animals:

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2008/10/andy-samberg-is-mark-wahlberg-talking.html

This "Mark Wahlberg talks to Andy" skit includes appearances by Amy Poehler, Josh Brolin, Kenan Thompson, and a donkey while Mark essentially recreates the skit whilst saying the impression was way off.

"Sure. Sure. It's big and beautiful." The audience didn't laugh, but I thought that was funny!

"Never again, okay?" Aw, come on! Andy has to do the impression again, especially after all this publicity that came as a result of it!!!

Also, this makes Andy out to be a total wimp (acting scared, not making eye contact, trying to excuse the skit as "silly," running away, etc.). Come on, Andy, Mark Wahlberg hasn't been buff for 10 years! You could take him! Especially with the donkey.

Enjoy!

TRANSCRIPT:

[ open on backstage kitchen area, as Andy Samberg roots through the fridge. He closes the fridge door to reveal Mark Wahlberg standing in wait along the wall. ]

[ Andy screams ]

Mark Wahlberg: Hey, Andy.

Andy Samberg: Ohhhh, Mark Wahlberg! Hi! How are you?

Mark Wahlberg: [ menacingly ] Oh, not so good, Andy. I mean, I saw the last show.

Andy Samberg: You did?

Mark Wahlberg: Yes, I did. And I gotta tell you, I'm very upset about this imitation, the thing with the animals. I mean, what is that?

Andy Samberg: Yeah, it was just a stupid thing we did! It was stupid!

Mark Wahlberg: Well, I gotta be honest with you, buddy -- I've been thinking about breaking that big, beautiful nose of yours.

Andy Samberg: Sure. sure, it's big and beautiful... yeah...

Mark Wahlberg: But, you know what? I decided not to, being the churchgoing guy that I am. But, I mean, it's nothing like me. What was that?

Andy Samberg: I know... I agree with you, and the thing I'd like to say...

[ Amy Poehler walks up ]

Amy Poehler: Hey. How you doing?

Mark Wahlberg: Hey, Amy Poehler! How's it going?

Amy Poehler: Pretty good.

Mark Wahlberg: You're pregnant. What's that all about, huh?

Amy Poehler: [ shrugs ] I don't know.

Mark Wahlberg: Well, it's nice to see you. Say hi to your mother for me.

Amy Poehler: Okay.

[ she walks off ]

Mark Wahlberg: So, Andy -- where were we?

Andy Samberg: Uh -- you were saying my impression was way off.

Mark Wahlberg: Yeah, I mean, look -- I don't get it. It was very inaccurate, you know?

Andy Samberg: Again -- yeah...

[ Josh Brolin walks up ]

Josh Brolin: Hey, Mark!

Mark Wahlberg: Heyyy, Josh Brolin!

Josh Brolin: What's going on?

Mark Wahlberg: How are you doing?

Josh Brolin: I'm good, good!

Mark Wahlberg: You were in the "Goonies" movie, right? [ Brolin nods, confused ] I produce "Entourage"!

Josh Brolin: Yeah, I-I-I know...

Mark Wahlberg: Say hi to your mother for me, alright?

Josh Brolin: Okay. [ turns and exits ]

Mark Wahlberg: And your stepmother.

Andy Samberg: Look, Mark, I-I didn't mean any offense by you. I'm a fan of your movies...

Mark Wahlberg: Whoa, hold on a second. [ he approaches a donkey being held by a rope by a costumed Kenan Thompson ] Hey! Hey, donkey!

Kenan Thompson: What's up, Mark?

Mark Wahlberg: How's it going? You live in a barn, right? I'm in "Max Payne". Have you see that movie? [ the donkey turns itself around ] Okay, donkey. Say hi to your mother for me.

Mark Wahlberg: [ he returns to Andy ] So... Andy. I'm -- actually, I'm glad we had this talk. I feel better.

Andy Samberg: Good. You know, me, too. [ he grimaces ] "Say hi to your mother for me?"

Mark Wahlberg: [ starts to throw a punch, then stops ] You know what? I'm not gonna go there. [ extends his arms ] Give me a hug. Come on! We're gonna hug it out, bitch!

Andy Samberg: Alright...

[ they hug ]

Mark Wahlberg: I love you.

Andy Samberg: God bless you.

Mark Wahlberg: Never again, okay?

Andy Samberg: Okay.

Mark Wahlberg: Okay!

Andy Samberg: Alright.

[ Andy runs away, flailing ]

[ fade ]

Weekend Update Thursday - 10/16/08

Update Thursday: Final Debate

Obama and McCain discuss Joe the Plumber in the final Presidential debate

Featuring SNL alumni, Chris Parnell (2nd week in a row), and SNL regulars Fred Armisen and Darrell Hammond.

Once again, Fred's Obama isn't very funny and doesn't really do much rather than let other people play off of his dryness.

Update: Crazy McCain Lady/ We Liked It

The Crazy McCain Lady and We Liked It

Starring SNL regulars Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, and Kristen Wiig.

Kristen Wiig is hilarious! Hmm. I can't help think about that poor woman and how much flack she's going to get from Kristen's impression. That's right, if you want an SNLer to do an impression of you, all you have to do is show up at publicized political rally and act a little crazy. It's that easy!!!

Update Thursday: Jesse Jackson

Jesse discusses the "Bradley Effect" / Goodnights

No Andy Samberg this week on Thursday Update, and Chris Parnell was the only major guest appearance.

Mark Wahlberg threatens Andy Samberg!!! Perez Hilton thinks Mark Wahlberg is a douche!

Special thanks to Jen from JenAndKatCandy for this scoop:
http://youtube.com/JenAndKatCandy

What with Mark Wahlberg weighing in on Andy Samberg's performance (of Andy's impression of Mark talking to animals)...

Perez Hilton decides to weigh in on Mark Wahlberg:

Check it out:

http://perezhilton.com/tv/index.php?ptvid=c7042a965a753&category_id=newest&category_start=0&category_end=4

Or watch here:

You're darn right Perez! Mark Wahlberg is a douche! He went from an honest answer in a magazine to hamming it up, threatening Andy Samberg, and using the catch phrase that Andy made famous, "Say hi to your mother for me." (Right after Wahlberg said that he has never said that phrase.)

So, why did he do this? Simple. He was building up a "fake fight" publicity stunt for SNL. Watch that video here:

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2008/10/andy-samberg-gets-threatened-by-mark.html

Judging how Jimmy Kimmel is trying to get more viewers from his publicity stunts (what with the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon vids that he and Sarah Silverman did for his show)... you know he jumped for this opportunity to be a part of this stunt. (It also comes across in his laughing while Mark Wahlberg talks.)

And here's Andy's performance again:

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2008/10/andy-samberg-is-mark-wahlberg-talking.html

And since we're on the topic of Perez Hilton...

One thing I don't get about Perez Hilton is why he thinks he looks handsome and thin on all his branding...

When he's actually not so thin and not so handsome...

That said, Perez Hilton does pose with hot chicks a lot:

So he seemed to be much thinner and slightly handsomer two years ago when he was a little less famous (as shown above with Nicole Ritchie and Lindsay Lohan).

FYI: He changed his Web name to Perez Hilton in order to capitalize on Paris' name. Talk about lame!!! She doesn't seem to mind though.

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg Does Mark Wahlberg Better Than Mark Wahlberg

Gotta love this title...

- TAE

---------------

Andy Samberg Does Mark Wahlberg Better Than Mark Wahlberg

Oh. Saturday Night Live might not be as great as it was at one time or another, but despite it’s downfalls, it always manages to uncover amazing fresh talent.
Andy Samberg is one of the brightest, most gifted comedians the show has seen in recent days. Of course I don’t want to take away from the many SNL greats of our time, but as far as young talent goes, this guy is an oyster with a myriads of pearls.
I’m a little late in posting this, but only because it slipped my mind - not because I forgot.

In this SNL skit, Andy channels Mark Wahlberg, in Barky Bark and the Donkey Bunch, a parody of the Funky Bunch frontman. And although Samberg looks nothing like Wahlberg, and the skit is totally weak, Samberg nails Wahlberg’s voice so well that if we only had the soundtrack, would be convinced we were listening to the actor himself.

That’s the beauty of Samberg. He can take a worthless skit and make it his.
So without further adieu, here is most definitely the best impression of Marky Mark that you will ever hear. I mean, who knew it was even possible to impersonate Mark Wahlberg?

Bravo!

Andy Samberg - Would make a great goat husband

Andy Samberg as Marky Mark Shows Us How to Treat A Goat

“Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals” is a great new SNL bit, but it’s nothing without those cute wittle fuzzy wuzzies. A new report from the International Union for Conservation of Nature, a group composed of governments, scientists and eco-groups, says we have an “extinction crisis” on our greedy hands. One in four species is now considered “critically endangered,” the worst level a species can be. The main culprits are global warming, habitat destruction and over-hunting, but don’t overlook goat rape.

True story. Last year, a man in Sudan was forced by village elders to marry a goat that he was caught Chuck Bass-ing. It wasn’t even his goat, so he had to pay the goat’s owner a dowry. A few months into the marriage, “Rose,” as the goat was called, was eating litter in the capital city of Juba when she accidentally choked to death. While goats are known to eat things like tin cans and gravel, they cannot eat plastic bags. Poor Rose probably thought she hit the jackpot.

Mark Wahlberg stands by his criticism of Andy Samberg's impression

After three kids, Mark Wahlberg will finally make an honest woman of Rhea Durman.

The date's set for sometime in August, he told Usmagazine.com at Monday's Max Payne Hollywood premiere.

''Catholic church, small, family only, no media!'' he said, laughing. Then added: ``There will be no wedding pictures sold to any magazines!''

Meanwhile, Wahlberg, 37, said he stands by his recent bashing of Saturday Night Live. The Boogie Nights star wasn't crazy about an Oct. 4 sketch called Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals with Andy Samberg playing the Boogie Nights star in a barnyard. Sample dialogue: ''Hey dog, what's up? I like your fur.'' The New York Post reports that though they have asked him to host dozens of times he's always said no because the show ''hasn't been funny for a long time.'' Ouch.

Mark Wahlberg's full interview about Andy Samberg's impression

Now we can see and hear a major part of the interview done with MTV.

I can see now from this context that Mark Wahlberg isn't too bad of guy (which is great, because I love him as an actor).

He obviously just isn't a major fan of SNL and he thinks Andy's performance was very simple and straight. It wasn't over the top.

So I agree with Mark about Andy's performance, but that's part of what makes it addicting. Watch it again. It's a phenominal skit, and it will bring Mark Wahlberg back as a regular character for Andy.

He actually said, "I thought it was good." And he liked Hot Rod. Plus his comment on SNL came because he thought maybe they were upset with him for never hosting.

No, dude. SNL parodies everyone, even hosts. It was totally unrelated.

Mark Wahlberg Not A Fan Of Andy Samberg’s ‘Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals’ SNL Sketch

It popped up in the wee hours of last weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” and has now become one of the hottest viral clips on the Internet. But what does the real Marky Mark think of Andy Samberg’s “Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals” sketch?

“Uh, I didn’t think it was as funny as I’d hoped,” said the rapper-turned-actor, whose new flick “Max Payne” opens October 17th. In the sketch, Samberg does a dead-on imitation of the “Boogie Nights” star, randomly approaching a dog (“I like your fur, that’s really great!”), a donkey (“You eat apples, right? I produce ‘Entourage’!”) and a goat (“I had a beard like that in ‘The Perfect Storm’!”) and ending each encounter with the same terse farewell for his interview subjects.

“Say hi to your mother for me,” the real-life Wahlberg grinned, insisting he never says that in real life. “No, no. But that’s my new catchphrase now.”

“I love when people do imitations of me; I try to get people who work with me to do it all the time,” Wahlberg explained of his ability to laugh at himself. “It’s not gonna be one of those things like [Tina Fey’s recent sketches about] Sarah Palin, where it’s a big deal.”

Wahlberg told MTV after the interview that he believed the sketch had come about because he’d been approached several times over the years to host “Saturday Night Live,” but has turned down executive producer Lorne Michaels because he didn’t think he was right for the show. The 37-year-old actor added that although he enjoyed some of the work Will Ferrell did on “SNL”, he hasn’t watched the show regularly since the ’80s and early-’90s.

Wahlberg also revealed to us that he has met Andy Samberg in the past, a meeting that may have had the funnyman secretly studying his mannerisms.

“I did meet him. I met him in Canada when he was shooting that movie ‘Hot Rod’, and I liked ‘Hot Rod’,” Wahlberg said. “’Hot Rod’ was funnier than that skit, I thought. I just wish it was a little bit funnier.”

Jason says NBC is doing the new video thing with Andy Samberg's videos

No offense, but Jason, you aren't all that well informed. SNL isn't trying to show clips on NBC dot com because of the success of Hulu.

SNL has been hosting videos on their website since Andy Samberg's Narnia skit made YouTube explode back in 2005. That's right, they've had videos up since early 2006.

The video system up on NBC.com right now is the third system that NBC has tried in order to get it right. They've also posted the SNL skits up on MySpace, YouTube, and now Hulu. They still use MySpace and Hulu, but they pulled out of YouTube. YouTube doesn't really make content providers much money, and the other sites provide full commercials, better advertising banners, and buttons to sell the DVDs. So NBC has been around in this game almost as long as YouTube.

SNL on MySpace (they've been there for about a year):

Live From The Web, It’s Any Night You Like

NBC Ponders SNL On Demand Site

Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels and NBC are working on a Web-video site dedicated to the iconic sketch show. The site would allow fans to download individual sketches, clips, and even dress rehearsal skits that never aired.

Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that plans are still in the early stages, and that the idea is inspired by the success of SNL sketches on Hulu. Likely, popularity on YouTube has been a driving factor, too, though the corporate line probably wouldn’t allow them to mention that.

The first SNL/YouTube phenom that comes to mind is “Lazy Sunday,” which sparked a lot of tension between SNL and YouTube, just ahead of the Viacom lawsuit. When the video’s popularity proved to be a boon to SNL—after years of steady decline—NBC was less vigilant about taking it down.

In fact, since then SNL’s Andy Samberg has produced regular short video pieces intended for the Web, with varying degrees of quality. One involving a Justin Timberlake and a box was a pretty nice addition to the comedy scene, though.

It will be interesting to see if expanded video presence on the Web will continue to fuel TV viewing on Saturday nights. More fun will be access to classic SNL sketches and classic casts—the eras between Eddie Murphy and Phil Hartman, and between Will Ferrell and the present excluded, obviously.

Now that the political season has boosted SNL’s ability to hang onto Tina Fey for a little while longer, post-election SNL producers should probably work on actually being funny.

Mark Wahlberg is taking Andy Samberg's impression a little too personally

Usually celebs don't comment on SNL impressions or they just shrug them off. But it looks like Mark Wahlberg is taking Andy Samberg's impression a little too seriously and personally.

It seems like he's insulting Andy Samberg and the show as a whole. He points to "the glory days" being when Eddie Murphy was on. Eddie Murphy? Sure, he was hilarious, but he was only on for a few years, and he was basically holding the show. That was not an ensemble time for SNL. That's when Lorne Michaels was off the show. When Lorne returned, he let everyone go except for Murphy and Piscopo. Then he tried hiring a bunch of known B or C comedic actors (Anthony Michael Hall, Randy Quaid, James Belushi, Robert Downey Jr., etc.) until he was able to round up fresh new comedians (which is what SNL was always about) with the likes of Dennis Miller, Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz, Kevin Nealon, Phil Hartman, etc.

Then the legacy continued on with the likes of Janeane Garofalo, Ben Stiller, Sarah Silverman, Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien, Chris Farley, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and then on to the likes of Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Tracey Morgan, and leading up to Tina Fey, Jimmy Falon, and our current greats Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Darrell Hammond, Amy Poehler, etc.

So it's a little irking that his only positive memory of SNL was when it was dry and being carried by Eddie Murphy. Sure, I'll be the first to admit that I thought SNL was quite dry for quite awhile after Will Ferrell left (and maybe right before Will Ferrell started getting into his groove on the show), back when the show was being carried by Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey.

He obviously hasn't seen Andy's more popular shorts, SNL's biting political skits, Weekend Update, or any of the other breakout performances coming out of Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Jason Sudiekis (his Biden was amazing), Amy Poehler, and newcomer Bobby Moynihan.

And what was he asleep during the 80s and 90s? How the heck can you mention Eddie Murphy and not mention Mike Meyers, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrell?

Plus he somehow mixed Bill Murray with SNL in the 80s? Bill Murray took over Chevy Chase's spot. He left before Piscopo and Murphy came on.

Okay, I'm done ranting. I'll still watch Mark Wahlberg's movies, but this is a major "Grrr." Especially how he implies that it isn't funny right now and that SNL has asked him a ton of times to come on but he thinks he's better than SNL. Grrr.

Hey, Mark Wahlberg, watch the Andy Samberg again and listen to the audience laughs! That's what the entire American public thinks about Andy's skit. You obviously took it too personally!!!

Mark Wahlberg Fails To See Humor In SNL Skit

Despite being one of the funniest impressions featured on “Saturday Night Live” since Bill Hader’s Daniel Day-Lewis “I drink your milkshake” spoof, Mark Wahlberg doesn’t see what was so funny about a recent SNL sketch titled “Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals,” in which cast-member Andy Samberg captures the “Max Payne” star to a t.

Asked about the impression during an interview this weekend with the New York Post, Wahlberg panned Samberg’s impression before taking a swipe at the show itself.

“Someone showed [me the skit] on YouTube,” Wahlberg said. “It wasn't like Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin, that's for sure.”

Wahlberg added “’Saturday Night Live’ hasn't been funny for a long time. They've asked me to do the show a ton of times. I used to watch it when Eddie Murphy was there and Joe Piscopo and Bill Murray. I don't even know who's on the show now.”

ouch!

Promoting his new action film “Max Payne” in the interview, Wahlberg went on to note that after playing an accountant and science teacher in his last two films (“The Happening” and “The Lovely Bones”), he was eager to take on a more “physical” role.

“[Max Payne] is everything we hoped it would be. We're not trying to win the Academy Award, we're trying to thoroughly entertain people. And I got to play a character that I really get to go off. I get to exorcise all those demons that I couldn't in "The Happening" and "The Lovely Bones." This is a very physical guy.”

Tip to Andy Samberg: If you see Mark Wahlberg on the street…run

Andy Samberg - Has to give his question simultaneously (Obama/McCain Debate)

Thursday Update: Show Open - Debate

Obama and McCain debate the issues; Featuring Bill Murray and Chris Parnell

Chris Parnell and Bill Murray make alumni appearances. Current SNL players include Casey Wilson, Fred Armisen, Darrell Hammond, Bill Hader, Bobby Moynihan (Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg in the background), Jason Sudeikis (Andy in the background again), Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg! (as David Kip), Kenan Thompson.

Chris Parnell looks pleased that the audience remembers and appreciates him.

So some people have said that they don't think Fred's Obama impression is funny. I think the reason is that Fred concentrates so hard on getting the mannerism, that his Obama becomes the "straight man" that everyone else plays off of. He only makes fun of his stammering and the time it takes for him to answer anything and get anything out. It's a dry character that relies on the other characters to build any comedic moments. (The alien story gets close, but it's still about serious meandering.)

Andy Samberg in the background!!!

The wandering McCain is hilarious!!!

Nice Bill Murray appearance. It looks like they just handed him the card two minutes prior and said, "Here. Read this."

That ended hilarious with the simultaneous questions from Andy Samberg and Kenan and the simultaneous answers (and more hilarious wandering). Great opening to the show!!!

Thursday Update - 10/09/08

SNL is doing these Thursday updates.

It's another excuse to milk Weekend Update Hilarity and all the political shenanigans going on right now. I hope it takes on enough followers to stick around longer than they think it will.

Mostly featuring current SNLers, but they're also bringing back some golden oldy alumnis. Check this out while we look for any unlikely Andy Samberg appearances...

Hall And Oats - Will Forte Song

Hall and Oats join Seth and Amy for some musical debate

Featuring current SNL players: Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, and Will Forte.

A few Weekend Update gags open this up. Hilarious song! Fred and Will could do stuff like this every week (they should).

Seth & Amy Goodness

Really?! with Seth and Amy and Fix It!! The "Fix it" part is Kenan's character.

Featuring SNL regular players Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, and Kenan Thompson.

A few funny gags here. Good gag from Amy about the bald dudes. I still don't think Kenan is funny (except as a straight man).

Success! They included Andy in a skit as an audience member. He needs more charcters and political impressions.

What we think Andy Samberg should do for Extreme Activities Competition 2

[Updated with more events]

First of all, we think Andy Samberg should do an Extreme Activities Competition 2.

On the first episode of this 08-09 season, Andy Samberg did the Space Olympics song. We liked it, but we said that Andy should just do a series of fake Olympic events instead.

We got our wish this last week with the hilarious digital short, Extreme Activities Competition.

We thought the events would be closer to the Olympics, but the events were funny, and that's what matters. My favorite events were Human ATM and Chair Pin.

So that got us thinking. They could literally come up with hundreds of these hilarious events. So why don't they make a sequel to Extreme Activities Competition?

Here are some of the events we were thinking. Leave a comment to suggest more events...

Andy Samberg's Mark Wahlberg impression - Where did it come from?

It came from stuff like this. Here's Mark Wahlberg in The Happening...

The Happening got its DVD release yesterday, bringing us to the above Mark Wahlberg/Zooey Deschanel exchange. For those left confounded by Andy Samberg's brilliant Wahlberg impression on SNL last week, we encourage you to watch both, then imagine Wahlberg's crackling dialogue replaced with: "Hey pharmacist, how's it going? I like your lab coat and name tag, that looks really great. So you're a pharmacist, right? What's that all about? Where's the cough syrup? OK, well it was great to meet you. Say hi to your mother for me, OK?"
